"The attention to detail was amazing"

What a simply sublime visit we had to the Corinthia Hotel in London’s Trafalgar Square last week. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were transported to a relaxing, friendly and gorgeous world away from bustling London.

Corinthia’s reception area is light, bright and beautiful, with a glass domed ceiling and a heady aroma of pretty blossoms from a floral display that you just have to stand and stare at. Their in-house florist is booked By Appointment Only Design, and they certainly create works of art with their displays.

We were soon whisked away to our room and settled in, marvelling at the huge white marble bathroom with cosy heated floors and ESPA products (my favourite!) and the cute bed made up for our daughter, complete with her own toiletries, teddy and fluffy slippers.

We managed to drag ourselves away from the comfort of our gorgeous room to explore the wonderful delights that were close by. Corinthia is one of the most centrally located five-star hotels in London, a perfect choice for a city honeymoon, with theatres, galleries and famous landmarks just a stone’s throw away.

Spa

Not wanting to be gone for too long, we were soon back in the warm embrace of the Corinthia (literally!) exploring the amazing spa. ESPA Life spa is dark and beautifully lit. With dimmed lighting above, soft, warm marble under our feet and so many little areas to forget your troubles and relax in, it’s a perfectly balanced, calming place to be. Spread over four floors, the spa features 17 treatment rooms, a private spa suite, nail studio, indoor swimming pool, vitality pool, amphitheatre sauna, ice fountain, marble heated loungers and private sleep pods. I simply loved their window of fire – a mesmerising feature that’s so atmospheric.

Dinner

Relaxed and refreshed, dinner awaited us. We dined in Massimo, a fine dining Italian restaurant within the hotel. Three courses of the finest Italian food graced our table, and the theme of indulgence and perfection continued! Italian meats, pasta with truffles, and a simply divine selection of chocolate desserts, each course with an accompanying wine and exquisite service – we couldn’t fault anything. The attention to detail was amazing and they accommodated our young daughter perfectly, even providing her with her own non-alcoholic pink cocktail – such a treat!

After dinner we happily explored the rest of the hotel, we visited the Bassoon a piano bar with excellent live music and appreciating the general ambience of our superior surroundings.

Turn Down

Back in our room, the turndown service was just lovely. Little lavender bags created a soothing aroma which welcomed us to the wonderfully comfortable bed. It may be in the centre of London, but huge curtains ensure you’re not disturbed by the hubbub below. A wonderful night’s sleep…

Breakfast

A leisurely breakfast greeted us the next morning in the main hotel restaurant. And what a huge selection! I treated myself to dim sum, whilst marvelling at the waffles, crepes, full English and American choices. The Northall restaurant is a really lovely space, with high ceilings, silver and grey panelling and a really plush, luxurious vibe.

So what about weddings?

Well, the Corinthia have three wedding spaces as well as a private dining area if you’re after something more intimate.

Their grand, spectacular Ballroom can accommodate 150 seated with dance floor/stage and 180 without. and is flooded with natural light from the floor to ceiling windows. It’s a stunning space, with ornate architecture and oozing Victorian splendour.

The Courtroom opens up onto a lovely courtyard, giving the opportunity for the celebrations to spill outside. Up to 150 guests can be accommodated in this room with mirrored walls and gorgeous dove grey décor.

If you wish to hold your ceremony at the Corinthia, they can hold up to 60 guests in their fully licensed Nelson room, and if you’re after a most opulent, intimate occasion. Weddings can be a private affair, with a separate side entrance available. The hotel is also available for engagement parties and rehearsal dinners. This is such a gorgeous venue, I could just imagine the all beautiful memories created here!

The Corinthia hotel is a favourite among A-listers – we may have spotted a familiar face ourselves! We were so lucky to be invited to stay and are grateful to all the staff for making us feel so welcome. This is certainly one of the best five-star hotels we’ve had the pleasure of staying at. Hope we can visit again soon!
