Pantone’s Colour Picks for 2016

With a New Year comes new colours, and this year, Pantone have graced us with a double dose! For the first time ever, Pantone have chosen two Colours of the Year for 2016.

Rose Quartz is a sensual, warm rose tone, similar to a champagne pink with a little more dust thrown in. Serenity is a gentle, cool blue tone, a soothing shade of evening sky. But don’t be fooled, this isn’t pink-for-girls and blue-for-boys, Pantone want these colours to transcend gender boundaries – that’s pink and blue for everyone!

But how can these colours add to your big day…?

Beauty

These two colours work beautifully on both eyes and nails (thanks, Pantone!). If you’re opting for the Rose Quartz look, try Bobbi Brown’s Eyeshadow in Antique Rose and Guerlain Colour Lacquer in Baby Rose; these soft pinks add a gentle, feminine touch to any bridal look.

If you’d prefer to add Serenity to your colour palette, try out Lancôme’s Ombre Hypnôse Eyeshadow in Eclat de Bleuet paired with Nails Inc’s Gel Effect Polish in Regents Place – you can’t go wrong with those gorgeous baby blues!

Nomatter which colour you opt for, add a little colour (and shimmer) to your cheeks with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in Riviera, it’ll brighten you up in no time.

Dresses & Accessories

Make your friends and family look stunning in pastel pinks and tranquil blues for your special day!

Dress your bridesmaids up in luxurious gowns and evening dresses, like this Cape Dress from Valentino – for a high-class affair, this plissé lamé mini dress from Gucci – for weddings with a little more champagne, this structured stretch-crepe dress from Antonio Berardi – a formally feminine piece, or maybe you’d prefer our personal favourite, this full length rose gown from Giambattista Valli, an ethereal piece fit for a heavenly wedding.

Add some height and some character with these classic Saint Laurent Tribute 105 heeled sandals, or a little rock and roll with pink Rockstud leather pumps from Valentino.

We know that colourful jewellery isn’t hard to come by, but we absolutely love these exquisite 18-karat gold quartz earrings from Marie-Hélène de Taillac, as well as this beautiful Stellar Blue Diamond Mini Bar Bracelet from Monica Vinader.

 Cakes, Flowers and Décor

If you’re starting to fall in love with the blue and pink theme, the cake is next on the list! While a simple pink multi-tiered cake isn’t anything out of the ordinary, we think you’ll find these gorgeous cakes from Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium are a little extra special!

Flowers are much easier when it comes to incorporating your colour palette! These multi-tonal arrangements from the ever-wonderful Amie Bone and her team would make amazing table centrepieces or fabulous bridal bouquets (your Guerlain/OPI/Shellac painted nails will look even more stunning against flowers this beautiful!).

For a little extra pastel pink inspiration, take a peek at Kelsey’s and Jacob’s country club wedding – the table decorations, bridesmaids’ dresses, and even the bride’s toenails were pink.
