The rise of Jimmy Choo

A style legacy

Founded in 1996 by couture shoe designer Jimmy Choo, the iconic brand holds a special place in the heart of the fashion world. Their shoes are world renowned, and you know exactly what to expect when you slip a Choo on your foot – ultimate luxury.

Royal connections

The brand traces its roots back to the 1990s and a bespoke shoemaker in the East End of London, Jimmy Choo himself, catering to the elite and royalty, including Princess Diana.

“I lost my Choo!” – Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City

In the year 2000, Jimmy Choo debuted on Sex and the City, firmly weaving its way into the fabric of the show, and, many, many pairs later, becoming the firm favourite of Carrie Bradshaw. This shot the brand into the mainstream, with girls craving a slice of Choo action.

A red carpet runway

Jimmy Choo’s goal has always been to create a global luxury business, with exceptional Italian craftsmanship and ultra fashionable design. To this day, Jimmy Choo uses the red carpet as a runway, having been one of the first to bring shoes and handbags to Hollywood. And Jimmy Choos are still the footwear of choice for celebrities across the globe.

Famous faces, famous feet

Jimmy Choo has seen a number of famous names model for their campaigns, with Nicole Kidman and Kit Harington becoming the face of Jimmy Choo. Mario Testino also famously shot their Fall 2004 campaign.

Royal approval

And proving they are still a royal favourite, and in a fitting tribute to Princess Diana, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in a pair of nude pumps after the birth of Princess Charlotte in 2014.

20 designs celebrate 20 years

2016 saw the launch of Jimmy Choo’s 20th anniversary Memento collection, featuring 20 shoes and bags to honour the brand’s legacy. The collection included sparkling Swarovski encrusted heels, dazzling gold embroidered clutches and an epic limited edition shoe trunk, meticulously crafted from the most luxurious embossed leather and featuring 20 individual shoe drawers, one for each Memento creation.
