King Louis XIV, known as the Sun King, was the inspiration behind Vera Wang’s Fall 2019 bridal collection. “He was the original power dresser,” she said, “The first fashion rock star that ever lived.” And her collection is full of the opulence and grandeur mirrored in the palace of Versailles, that Louis was so famous for. Metallic lace peeps through soft ivory and nude shades – a nod to the extravagant, shining through traditional bridal shades.
Here’s my 5 Star favourite five – you can see the full collection here.
With a layered nude and ivory tulle skirt tumbling down, the lace bodice sits beautifully on top, with cute capped sleeves and a high neck offering a modest look, but sheer lace giving some glamour.
A stunning way to incorporate colour to your day and a fabulous alternative to a traditional gown, I love the jewelled bust and black velvet ribbon that are such a contrast to the pale blue and light ivory tulle. Reminiscent of a Greek goddess rising from the sea!
Gold Chantilly lace hides underneath a dramatic hand pleated French tulle halter that drapes over the dress from top to bottom. Layers of nude tulle waterfall down, creating the most beautiful effect and the softest skirt.
The striking blue streamer adds a gorgeous splash of colour to this dress, floating over the luxurious silver and gold Chantilly lace accents. I love the bejewelled black bust, which adds a dark, opulent contrast to the sheer fabric.
Long sleeves of lace match the asymmetric French lace applique that runs down the skirt. More gorgeous soft layers of nude tulle float up to a sheer classic corset and more sumptuous lace.
