Beauty Trends – We have just seen these fabulous beauty trends for 2013 from Izzy Jaffer, Salon Owner of Institut de beauté, and wanted to share them with you.
‘No Make-up’ Skin, as seen at Victoria Beckham, Isabel Marant, Balmain and Stella McCartney.
“This is a recurring trend at fashion weeks, but this year has a slightly matte take so skin needs to be in tip-top condition before you can apply any powder-based makeup. I’d advise visiting your salon for a skin care consultation to determine what kind of skin care you need and follow with the appropriate facial – Rodial’s A-List™ Facial uses an exclusive oxygen boosting serum to reveal brighter, illuminated and youthful skin, £90.”
Tip: Remember to remove makeup before going to bed and drink plenty of water to encourage healthy skin
‘Barely There’ Lashes, as seen at Rochas and Marchesa.
“This is a tricky look to pull off but it can be done – in addition to ensuring your skin is as perfect as can be, cheat your way to less-is-more lashes with semi-permanent lash extensions. Nouveau Lashes, from £92.50 for a full set, can be applied individually to suit your preference and last up to two weeks with top-up’s available to extend this even further. Remember to define the brows for extra impact – waxing followed by a light shading gives the best finish.”
Tip: If you’re not a fan of false lashes or want a more affordable alternative, opt for an Institut de beauté eyelash tint, £17.50. LVL Lash Lift treatment will also add volume and length to your natural lashes without lash extensions, £57.
Nude Nails, as seen at Christopher Raeburn, Rag & Bone and Kaufman Franco
“Hurrah for the rise of the nude nail. More and more brands are realising that nude is not just a fail-safe option and offering a wider range of shades. With the rise in more long-term manicure options such as the Jessica Geleration manicure, which is not only picture perfect, but good for the nails, your perfect nude stays chip-free for up to three weeks, £45.”
Tip: Opt for a polish one or two shades lighter than your skin to elongate the hands.
Subtle Glow, as seen at Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui and Derek Lam.
“Always a favourite amongst clients, a tan is an instant pick-me-up and can be adapted to be worn year-round. The key is subtlety – as a general rule, olive to darker skin tones can carry off contoured tans but if you’re fair, opt for a lighter shade. A spray tan such as XEN-TAN will ensure you’re tan looks natural and streak free for up to 10 days, £35.”
Tip: Be sure to buff away any dry skin before a spray tan/self-tan application to avoid unnecessary streaks or uneven colour.
