A trip back in time
Downton Abbey captured the hearts of people around the world with its endearing characters, gripping storylines and historic staging. This strong, classic Edwardian style is very much on trend for wedding themes and bridal styling, so we’re absolutely in love with this shoot at The Foundling Museum in London, by photographers Tai Adedayo from Lovexposed Photography and Tino Antoniou.
Coordinated by Designer Wedding Planner, every element of the shoot was carefully coordinated to reflect the stylish elegance of the era.
The couture bridal gowns, by Kate Edmondson, perfectly complemented the surroundings, with layers of tulle and sparkling diamanté details. The prettiest shoes, from Rachel Simpson Bridal, accessorised the outfit perfectly, and Glitzy Secret Jewellery supplied the stunning diamante encrusted headpieces, drop diamante necklaces, gorgeous earrings and bejewelled cuffs. Each piece was so carefully handcrafted, they showed an opulence which really suited the Downton Abbey feel perfect.
Makeup was kept light, with only a hint of lip colour, in keeping with the natural, light palette. Cream and pink flowers and fresh green foliage, accented with a rich gold for a touch of luxury, set beautifully against the ancient canvases, painted with portraits and landscapes from a bygone era.
The tables were picture perfect, with the fresh cream and pink theme continuing. Flickering candles sat atop rich satin tablecloths with creeping ivy running up elegant floral displays. Luxurious metallic napkins graced the settings, with sparkling menus making a truly eye-catching tablescape.
The cake was a glorious vision of pure white with gold accents – such a grand feature and perfectly in keeping with the theme.
The groom for the day suited the handmade designer suits from Christian English perfectly. The paisley print on the bow tie and dress scarf picked out the gold highlights and accented the luxurious feel of the shoot.
This gorgeous shoot gives some fabulous inspiration for incorporating the Downton theme into your day with a classic Edwardian luxury feel, full of history and elegance. For more inspiration, head to our wedding style and themes page.
