New Hen Party Trends: There’s been a big shift in recent years in how people see hen parties. Far from the traditional booze fuelled nights out, women in the UK are choosing a more sophisticated route when celebrating in the run up to their wedding. With the average hen party now costing around £150 per head, we have looked at popular trends for hen parties this year:
Let’s get physical
Forget 80’s sportswear themed fancy dress with neon and lycra, there has seen a substantial rise in interest for a more healthy answer to a hen party.
A combination of a feel good activity, such as yoga, boot camp sessions, mountain biking and even synchronised swimming, with luxurious accommodation gives the desirable result of having a great time with your friends and coming away from the weekend feeling refreshed and relaxed.
Escape to the country
Going away for the weekend is nothing new, but more groups are choosing not to go abroad or on a city break in favour of renting a house in the countryside.
There has also been an increase in high standard accommodation, developed especially for this market, meaning that cold and leaky short lets are a thing of the past. Instead many are refurbished with luxurious linen, beautiful kitchens and living areas, plus with a wide range of activities that can be brought to you, its an easy way to create your perfect hen weekend.
Craft fever
Kirsty Allsop has a lot to answer for, with shows like Kirsty’s Homemade Home and The Great British Bake Off, being creative has become more popular again.
Its also a great way to bring together groups who may not know each other well, with plenty of time to chat whilst learning a new skill. Particularly popular options are fascinator making, cupcake decorating and chocolate making, but with more unusual options available such as shoe decoration, ceramics painting and screen printing, you can find a great activity that your group will enjoy and make your hen party stand out.
