How To Get A Celebrity Make-Up Look For Your Wedding – Today we share with you our interview with Michael Phillips. Michael began his career in 2004 and is a self taught makeup artist. Mikey has worked with many celebrity faces including Rochelle Humes, Peter Andre, JLS, Deborah Meaden, Hershey Pasqual, Jeff Brazier, Kelly Osbourne, Sophie Ellis Bextor to name a few.
Michael, otherwise known as Mikey has clocked up an assortment of credits for his incredible makeup artistry on film, television, print and online media, and the stage as a brand ambassador for innovative makeup brand, New CID Cosmetics, at events and shows all over the world.
5 Star Weddings: Can you tell us some of the amazing diverse women you have worked with over the years for magazines, privately and on shows?
Mikey Phillips: I’ve loved working with Lorraine Kelly who was recovering from her horse riding accident and had just been awarded an OBE!
Powerful, independent woman, Love working with Rochelle Humes from The Saturdays, again, she is a young, strong and powerful woman.
Amy Child’s is also absolutely stunning in real life. I’ve been working with Amy over the last 3 months and creating a fresher more beautiful image, less is more we are learning.

5 Star Weddings: Can you give some top tips on how to create that flawless look for a bride?
Mikey Phillips: Firstly, I’d prep the skin with a hydrating face mask followed by skin care and a makeup primer to give skin a fresh hydrated glow.
Using a luminous concealer and foundation also helps to brighten and enhance the complexion without masking the skin with heavy or dry products.
Finally, I’d also carry a really good translucent blotting powder to touch up throughout the day

Mikey Phillips: I would say up to a year or 6 months as top makeup artists get booked up quickly
5 Star Weddings: What are the trends for brides at the moment?
Mikey Phillips: Brides are being a little more experimental so we re seeing lots of smokey eye brides or a bold lip! One trend that consistently remains is luminous flawless skin!
5 Star Weddings: What are your five tips to brides-to-be for their big day?
- Don’t have a facial at least 10 days before
- Make sure your brows are shaped and tinted
- Get lots of sleep , you’re going to need it!
- Don’t have a spray tan the night before the wedding
- Make sure you have a make-up trial
5 Star Weddings: In your opinion what makes a 5 Star Wedding?
Mikey Phillips: I think elegance and simplicity make a 5 star wedding! I’ve traveled all over the world getting brides ready for their big day, and seen the biggest weddings to the smallest ones.
I think as long as you wear a dress that’s classic and fits you perfectly, makeup and hair is classic with a modern twist you won’t go far wrong.
I also think the same for the venue and the theme of the wedding and most importantly enjoy it!
