Ombre and dip-dye colours are splashing across weddings around the world right now. We love the trend – it injects subtle colour to the day and can be used on any tone. It’s fabulous for bringing a bright colour in without overpowering, but just as good for infusing soft, pastel tones.
We’ve pulled together some of our favourite ombre inspiration to give you some ideas of your own.
Dresses
There are so many ways to add a touch of colour to your gown. We love the idea of just dip-dying the hem, but have equally fallen for a totally ombre skirt! Or why not flip it and go for a block of deep colour?
Gorgeous soft pastel peach works perfectly – and matches the tone of the flowers as well. A gorgeous bright blue is balanced by the pure white. Dusty blue is a fabulous colour – layers of tulle soften the skirt and the pure white bodice is just striking. Image: Tyler Rye Flip it over! Set the white at the top and work the colour down – beautiful for a snow covered wedding. Image: Ciara Richardson
Florals
From table decorations to room decor, your most versatile flower for the ombre look is the rose. Beautiful in abundance, it comes in virtually every hue you could wish for. We adore this styled ombre arch, and, of course, we’re always totally swooning over a floral wall!
A beautiful petal aisle is a perfect place to start your ombre theme. A simply stunning arch will act as your feature – match your bouquet, and keep everything else very simple – all eyes will be not he arch – and you under it! Cake
Be clever with your theme and hide your ombre inside the cake! Layers of different colours and flavours will surprise and delight your guests. As will an impressively tall ombre masterpiece!
So clever to match the cake colour to the frosting! Ruffles are just the prettiest cake decoration. End with a flourish of white flowers for maximum impact. Stationery
Watercolour stationery is so pretty, giving an elegant and attractive first look of your wedding. Carrying that theme through to your tables and favours is so clever! Loving these ombre macaron favours – so sweet!
Soft tones mixed with your chosen flower introduces your theme perfectly. Image: Knots and Kisses Wedding Stationery Simple and effective, we love this watercolour design with stencil names cut out. Image: Beija Flor Studio Such a clever idea. Table escort cards don’t have to be left out. If you’re clever, you can match these across to the tables themselves too. Bridesmaids
There are two options for your ombre bridesmaids’ dresses – you can make the dresses themselves dip-dye, or dress each bridesmaid in a different shade of your chosen colour, leaving you to be the pure white end!
Make a statement with your colour palette and soften it with a slight ombre. You’ll still get the colour impact you’re after.
