Pet pals: Animals at weddings

This week I wanted to share a little inspiration about having your much loved pets at your wedding. Just searching for ‘animals at weddings’ on Pinterest was enough for my heart to be filled for the day! Cute alpacas, dinky donkeys and ring-bearing pups filled my screen, showing that whatever your vibe, animals firmly have a place at weddings.

I love the idea of a wedding on a remote farm with the sweet animals getting involved… the bride riding her horse down the aisle to meet her future partner, donkeys with flower crowns or llamas with top hat and bow tie, if animals are your thing, or you grew up on a farm, it will feel gorgeously natural including them in your day. Also, how cute would it be to let your flower girls ride Shetland ponies up the aisle?! Just as long as they’re used to lots of people and aren’t going to get scared… the ponies, that is…!

Or how about a destination wedding on a reserve? Giraffes poking their heads into the celebrations, wildlife grazing in the background, or a parrot ring-bearer all add colour, personality and show a little of your passion to your guests, making your day unique.

And we can’t do a blog about animals at weddings without mentioning man’s best friend. If you’ve got a dog, no doubt they will feature in your day at some point. Ring bearer, bridesmaid or simply appearing in your photos, it’s such a special moment to have your dog involved in. Talk to your wedding photographer to make sure you’ve got your good boy or girl involved in the pictures!

But if you’ve got a pet you love that can’t make the big day, why not include them some other way? Feature them on the save-the-dates – maybe commission a drawing or piece of art of them, or how about an animal themed day? Or maybe feature them on your cake? Pet inspired centrepieces, napkins and favours can be a really quirky and fun way to theme your day.
