Real Wedding: Pretty pastels & rain showers in South Carolina
The rain may have fallen, but for Ashleigh and Christopher, their wedding day could not have shined any brighter. Overlooking the Waccamaw River in South Carolina, the couple exchanged their vows, with the bride making a last minute shoe change and opting for bright red wellies!
Rain, rain, go away…
When the weather forecast tells you it’s going to rain, you can either hope and pray for sun, or embrace the downpour, and our couple decided to do exactly that. Sweet umbrellas were brought in along with draped tents to shelter from the rain, but as soon as the couple said their ‘I do’s’, the clouds parted to reveal a stunning orange sunset. This pair were high school sweethearts, and the day was so full of joy at celebrating their ten years together.
White and blue for the girls
Ashleigh chose an elegant sheath dress with appliqued flowers that stretched up over the illusion neckline and across the back. A detachable train made sure that the dress made a stunning statement down the aisle whilst being a bit more practical for the rest of the day. Bridesmaids blushed in baby blue maxi dresses and held sweet puffball bouquets of white roses and peonies.
A pop of pink for the reception
Pink joined the colour palette for the reception as roses were added to the white displays and tumbled down the cake. God was the accent metallic of choice, giving a little extra sparkle to the day. The couple had chosen the same wedding date as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, so gold was really the only fitting accent to use!
Congratulations to Ashleigh and Christopher – they didn’t let a little bit of rain dampen their spirits and had a beautiful day. It’s always a good idea to have some backup plans in case of wet weather. I love the cute ‘love is in the air’ umbrellas! But would you dare to wear wellies…?
