Cashmere, wool or a blend?

Pure cashmere is the softest and warmest for its weight, as in Loro Piana's Serbelloni turtleneck. A wool and cashmere blend, like The Row's Sibem and Ophelia, is soft but a little more hard-wearing. Ribbed wool, like Chloé's Henley sweater, holds its shape.

How to choose a fit

Relaxed shapes with dropped shoulders sit well half-tucked into trousers or jeans. Finer, closer knits layer under tailoring and coats. Shop The Coat Edit to go over them.

Knitwear: your questions answered

Is cashmere better than wool?

Cashmere is softer and warmer for its weight. Wool is more hard-wearing. A wool and cashmere blend balances both.

How should a cashmere jumper fit?

It depends on the style: relaxed designs are cut loose with dropped shoulders, while fine knits sit closer to layer under tailoring.
