Suits and Sophistication
We’ve been so inspired by soon-to-be Duchess Meghan Markle’s effortless style and love the way she’s transforming from red carpet star to princess. We thought we’d share some of our favourite looks from Meghan over the past few years for some red carpet and royal inspiration.
A classic little black dress is always a winner, but Meghan is a navy girl, so this blue Diane von Furstenburg really hit the mark during Meghan’s red carpet appearance in February 2012 at USA Network and The Moth Storytelling Tour, ‘A More Perfect Union: Stories of Prejudice and Power’. Lace overlay is a favourite of ours!
Raspberry pink Marchesa and sparkly heels for the ELLE Women in Television celebration in January 2013 – a stunning pop of colour with some gorgeous tucked and ruched detail.
Casual elegance for a visit to Marc Jacobs Daisy Chain Tweet pop up shop party in February 2014. Classic cashmere was made event-worthy with a sweet blouse and kicked up a notch with leather trousers and killer heels.
A cute pink Marc Jacobs bag and animal print shoes accessorised Meghan’s Veronica Beard skirt perfectly, complimenting her all navy look for the Today Show in March 2016.
Perched on the steps of a private residence in the grounds of Windsor Castle, Meghan’s Ralph & Russo couture gown had just the right amount of glamour for a royal engagement photo, with Harry taking the all-navy look this time!
For her first royal visit to Cardiff, Meghan’s wardrobe contained a lot of British designers. A Stella McCartney coat and trousers by Welsh fashion house Hiut Denim were her outfit of choice for the day, accessorised with a DeMellier ‘Mini Venice’ bag.
A black Prada clutch and Manolo Blahniks complimented Meghan’s navy Alexander McQueen suit and Tuxe Boss blouse for the Endeavour Fund Awards in February 2018. Another nod to British designers, Meghan carries off the look with style.
At Meghan’s recent appearance at the Royal Foundation’s inaugural forum she chose a go-to colour with a navy satin belted Jason Wu wrap dress with black Aquazzura suede shoes. Sparkling gold Isabel Marant earrings completed the look.
If you’ve fallen in love with Meghan Markle’s chic and sophisticated style with a touch of glamour, you can’t go wrong with getting a few navy pieces in your wardrobe! Complimenting her hair and skin tone perfectly, this formal yet elegant shade is a great alternative to black and a softer way to amp up the style. We’ve seen it all over the catwalks and think it looks great in a variety of fabrics and pieces. Accessorised with complimentary block of bright colour, we love navy!
