If Southeast Asia is flirting with your desire for an exotic wedding but you are unsure of exactly where, we’ve discovered a beautiful spot we’d like to share with you. The Anantara Layan Phuket Resort is a coveted gem, quietly sitting in the northeast of Phuket between the lush tropical jungle and tranquil Layan bay. The vast collection of luxurious residences, villas and rooms peek out from the hillside or beachfront making this a perfect venue for friends and families to stay in one spot during a wedding.

We realise now, that our arrival at Layan started how it was intended to go on with wonderful warm Thai hospitality welcoming us into our temporary home. Flower garlands and lemongrass refreshments, cold towels and friendly smiles were all offered with a genuine wish that we would enjoy our stay.

First glimpses of this luxury resort are impactful and would suit any modern couple wanting to impress their guests. The cool modernist style beach house architecture is home to a beautifully interior-designed open-air restaurant and beach club all placed around a glistening turquoise infinity pool. A powdery beach and pretty bay sit just beyond, providing stunning views for both swimmers and diners.

Beach weddings are naturally a popular choice here whilst the Layan Chapel on the hillside with its sweeping ocean vistas, is an option for more intimate blessings.

Wedding Guest Accommodation Overlooking Layan Bay

One of a small fleet of golf buggies whisked us off to our accommodation, a hillside retreat with views of the bay. This stunning two-bedroom pool suite felt like the perfect base for a bride or groom and their family or friends in the run-up to the wedding. The two very large, completely separate bedrooms connect via an outdoor terrace and private infinity pool, providing enough space whilst also being close together. The luxurious bathrooms with relaxing deep sunken baths cleverly open up to the bedroom offering a flood of natural light for brides to get ready.

The beauty of Anantara Layan is the huge choice of luxury accommodation available for wedding guests of all different budgets. Sea view rooms with balconies, large two-bedroom suites with private pools or for those wanting even more privacy and space, villas with their own gardens pool and beach access.

For those looking for the absolute height in luxury, however, this resort’s pièce de résistance has to be the Anantara Layan Residences. A collection of 15 two-storey sea view residences offering a maximum of six bedrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows opening up onto cliff-edge infinity pools, private Thai-style salas plus a whole host of other services to consider, not least, a complimentary butler. The Residences provide complete indulgence in both design and service and would satisfy even the most discerning wedding couple and their party.

Food For All Types Of Foodies

In line with the living quarters, expect exceptional menus for your big day and a variety of culinary tastes that you wouldn’t normally expect in Thailand. The chefs at Anantara cook up an incredible choice of both local dishes and international flavours – all of which can be pretty much sampled on one plate during the hearty breakfast buffet. A commitment to honest healthy options was something we really loved so if that’s important to you, you’ll be happy here.

For a more ‘mature’ marriage of drinks and dishes such as fine wines and heritage-bred meats, the resort’s fine dining experience, AGE, is a must. Select your own cut from an Australian Angus Tomahawk to a striploin of Tajima Wagyu, wash it down with the sommelier’s suggestion of wine and a side of duck fat french fries and you’ll be forgiven for being distracted from the panoramic sunset vistas at this outstanding cliffside restaurant.

Just When We Thought We Couldn’t Be More Relaxed…

We enter ‘The Spa’. An Anantara other world of essential oils blended with hypnotic beats and deeply relaxing massages. A couple’s Thai massage is something every newly married couple should sign up for, not just because it’s ridiculously good at releasing tension but also because it feels beautifully indulgent and is the perfect opportunity for busy couples to spend a moment together, relaxing and drinking herbal teas in a tranquil setting.

Planning Your Big Day With Anantara Layan

As you would expect, bespoke is an integral part of the Anantara ethos and this is especially key for their couples and wedding parties. A collection of different packages are made available, mainly pertaining to which area of the resort you’d prefer to have your blessing in. Whether it’s on the beachfront, in one of the glamorous residences or in the Layan Chapel with its panoramic views. Everything is organised for you from flowers to cake and executed by a team of experienced wedding professionals. Spa treatments, a romantic dining experience and a bottle of bubbly are all added into the packages to ensure newlyweds get to feel extra special during their first few days as a married couple.

The vibe at Anantara Layan is cool, modern luxury. Eat, sleep, swim, repeat is an honoured routine for those in residence and one that is catered very well for.
