Style shoot: Opulent summer garden wedding

Hannah Taylor is a wedding stylist and recently styled this gorgeous shoot in the dreamy walled garden at Great Fulford, a 16th century Tudor estate in Devon.

We loved hearing about the inspiration for the shoot and couldn’t wait to share the pictures with you. Here’s what Hannah had to say about the shoot.

Style shoot: Opulent summer garden wedding

“My client, Emma Hemmington, founder of West Country Wedding Planner commissioned me to create a magical theme with a hint of 80’s labyrinth sparkle and glamour. This bright summer garden decor was a very personal design and celebration of my client’s love for enchanting 80’s films and poetry. Not wanting black and white ball decor, as it was in Labyrinth, bright, bold and opulent colours were chosen for the main colour palette. We did, however, go for black and white in the props and side decorated areas; this made a good contrast and added surprise detail and interest.

“My job as a stylist and a creator of lovely things was to bring together all the elements they loved and display them perfectly. My love and collection of fabrics was a pure joy for them to choose from, as were my ideas of adding layers with the fabrics. I first covered their tables with heavy very luxurious gold fabric followed by fabric covered centre circles, creating a great centre area to build my displays on. Their wild garden flower arrangements came from my own flower garden; I hid the vases within fabric-made cushions and allowed the flowers and foliage to overflow. Moss levels were created to add a contrasting colour to the bright, rich pinks and purples with an added surprise detail of the glitter filled oyster shells. To compliment the shells I made glitter decorated name cards with hand written text.

“For their props and accessories, gold candelabras in varying sizes with blue candles added different levels of height and interest. Hanging black and white fabrics with crystal-like lights and glitter detail lit up the dark corners within the trees and their love of poetry was incorporated into a labyrinth prop. The wording featured is text made up from a labyrinth poem, pieced together personal to them.”

Beautifully bright and wonderfully fresh, we adore this shoot – perfect for a rich and vibrant colour palette.
