About

Chateau Mcely is an eco-chic 17th-century chateau near Prague, set in a five-hectare English park by St George Forest. With 24 named rooms, Piano Nobile dining, and a restorative spa, it is made for romance, weddings and calm escapes in every season.

Chateau Mcely is a MICHELIN-selected restaurant in 2025 and a proud recipient of one MICHELIN Key, placing it among the world’s most exceptional hotels. The MICHELIN Guide
has recognised Chateau Mcely as a cultural ambassador in harmony with its surroundings,
reflecting a strong local identity that blends architectural vision, professional expertise, a distinctive personality, and genuine, gracious service.

Chateau Mcely

According to the MICHELIN Guide, Chateau Mcely is a modern five-star incarnation of a 17th-century hunting lodge. Of course, European nobility in the Baroque period was not about to retreat to the countryside in anything less than princely accommodation, and the “lodge” is therefore decidedly palatial. A stroll through the meticulously maintained gardens surrounding the main house offers a clear preview of what awaits guests: a tribute to rural opulence that is both detailed and dreamy—a fairy tale brought to life with attentive service.

The eco-chic chateau is situated in the heart of a five-hectare English park, surrounded by the St. George Forest, just a comfortable 50-minute drive from Prague. When the gates open, guests are welcomed into the original aristocratic residence of the Thurn-Taxis noble family, where they are invited to leave their worries behind and immerse themselves fully in the present moment.

Chateau Mcely offers an atmosphere that changes in harmony with the seasons, whether guests arrive seeking romance, relaxation, or attending a conference, celebration, or wedding. Everything is delivered with loving care by the Mcely team and guided by a strong commitment to green principles and sustainability.

Comfort and elegance are provided by 24 individually named and uniquely designed rooms, each reflecting a personal story and refined character. Culinary excellence awaits at the long-
acclaimed Piano Nobile restaurant, renowned for its high-quality cuisine and seasonal menus that delight even the most discerning palates. Guests seeking deep relaxation can restore body and soul at the Mcely Bouquet Spa, which offers long therapies and massages using the chateau’s own pure, natural, hand-blended cosmetics.

Private moments of relaxation can be enjoyed in the sauna or the outdoor whirlpool, whether under the stars or the sun, while quiet contemplation is possible at the rooftop observatory. During the summer months, guests can swim in the naturally filtered lake, relax in the Mcely Summer Club, or enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings. The chateau also provides access to tennis courts, outdoor fitness facilities, a children’s playground, and a variety of memorable experiences, including historic carriage rides.

Together, these elements create an unforgettable retreat where history, nature, luxury, and mindful hospitality come together in perfect harmony.

Swimming Pool

Chateau Mcely offers swimming, but in a far more elegant, nature-led way than a standard indoor pool.

You can swim in their biotop swimming lake, a naturally filtered outdoor lake designed to maintain clean, fresh water through plants, stones, and gravel. In the warmer months, it becomes a real highlight of the stay, with the Mcely Summer Club feel, sun loungers, towels, and that slow, holiday pace. It also works well as a cooldown after the sauna, even outside peak summer, for the brave.

Fitness Center

Fitness at Chateau Mcely is beautifully outdoors-led, with more countryside movement than a conventional gym. You have a dedicated fitness trail woven into the park, with natural training stations, plus steep paths and staircases that turn a simple walk into a proper session.

For sport, there is a multifunctional court for tennis, basketball, and football, ideal for a morning match before lunch, or a light hit to reset the mind. It suits wedding weekends too, think fresh air, a gentle sweat, then straight into spa mode.

Spa

The Mcely Bouquet Spa is the kind of place that quietly becomes the highlight of the stay. It is calm, intimate, and deeply restorative, perfect for the day before the wedding when nerves need softening, and even better the morning after when you want to reset without leaving the estate.

Treatments lean into long, unhurried therapies and massages, using the chateau’s own natural, hand blended cosmetics, which makes everything feel personal and intentional. Add in the sauna for that clean, warmed through feeling, then slip into the outdoor whirlpool for a slow soak under open sky. It is pure post celebration therapy, and a gorgeous way to turn a wedding weekend into a true wedding and honeymoons escape.

The place is beautiful
Absolutely loved our stay which we considered amazing value for money. The place is beautiful with an impressive attention to detail. We’ve stayed in many wonderful hotels, but what truly sets Chateau Mcely apart is the warm hospitality. It’s difficult to describe how sweet and welcoming the staff make you feel even before you arrive. The little details to make it fun sets the hotel apart from any other places we have stayed is the open air cinema (in Czech, but still a nice touch) surprises for kids and all the free amenities. We borrow the Mountainbikes and went on an adventure with a map from the staff. ???????? The food was delicious. Definitely high end but worth it. ???????? We hope to be back with family and friends and will 100% recommend a stay here!

Chateau Mcely keeps its wedding pricing refreshingly clear, with published package starting points in Czech koruna, followed by a tailored quote once your guest count, season, and celebration style are confirmed. Dining

Chateau Mcely treats food like part of the occasion, not a box to tick. The wedding experience can range from elegant canapés and champagne on the terrace to a candlelit dinner that feels well-curated, seasonal, and beautifully paced.

For your wedding menu, the kitchen can shape a multi-course celebration meal, refined but warm, with ingredients led by the time of year. Couples often build the weekend around a welcome dinner, the main reception feast, then a relaxed next-day brunch, all delivered with the same quiet polish.

If you want something more expressive, you can add tasting stations, late-night bites, and a dessert moment that feels like theatre, think layered cakes, petite sweets, and a beautifully styled coffee and digestif finish. The team can also handle dietary needs with ease, so every guest feels considered.

Venue Availability

Chateau Mcely is the kind of venue couples lock in early, especially when they want exclusive use and a full weekend flow with rooms for their guests. Availability changes quickly across spring, summer, and early autumn, so it is smart to enquire with a first-choice date plus two alternatives.

For the smoothest planning, many couples aim to secure their date 12 to 18 months ahead for peak season, while late autumn and winter offer more flexibility and a very romantic, candlelit chateau mood.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can guests get here easily from Prague?

Yes, it works well for destination couples because you can fly into Prague and arrange private transfers for guests directly to the chateau. Many couples build a simple arrival plan with grouped shuttles, then a relaxed check-in, drinks, and a welcome dinner.

How many guests can stay overnight at Chateau Mcely

The chateau has 24 rooms and suites, each typically accommodating up to 55 guests. It is perfect for a wedding weekend when your closest people are all together, including breakfast conversations.

What is the ideal wedding size here?

For a luxury chateau feel, intimate to mid-size celebrations suit it best. You can host a beautiful reception and dinner indoors, and if your guest list grows, you can extend the celebration outdoors with a marquee option in the park.

Can we book exclusive use?

Yes, exclusive hire is a popular option, especially for couples who want privacy, control over the flow, and a true house-party feel over two or three days. It also makes guest logistics simple: one place, one team, one story.

Where can we hold the ceremony, and what if it rains

You can choose a garden setting, a terrace moment, or an elegant indoor plan depending on season and guest count. A good chateau always has a strong backup plan for weather, and the team will guide you to the smoothest option for your timeline and photos.

What is the wedding food style like

Think seasonal, polished, and beautifully paced, with menus shaped around the time of year. Couples often plan a welcome dinner, a main reception feast, then a next-day brunch, plus thoughtful options for dietary needs.

Can we do a tasting before the wedding?

In most cases, yes, and it is worth it if you want total confidence in the menu, timings, and wine pairings. If you cannot travel in advance, the team can usually design the menu collaboratively with clear guidance and photos.

Can we have a live band, a DJ, and a late finish?

Yes, but you should confirm the exact timings and sound rules early, especially if you want outdoor music. A smart plan is to hold the ceremony outdoors, with an elegant dinner and speeches, then move the party indoors for a strong late-night finish.

Do we have to use in-house suppliers?

You can often bring your own planner, photographer, and creative team, but each venue has its preferred operating style. The best approach is to align early on logistics, load-in, styling, and who manages what on the day.

What is a perfect wedding weekend itinerary here?

Day one, arrivals, drinks, and a welcome dinner. Day two: ceremony, cocktails, dinner, party. Day three, spa time, a relaxed brunch, maybe a countryside experience, then departures that do not feel rushed.
