Along Catalonia's northeastern coastline, the Costa Brava is known for its rocky coves, pine covered headlands and beautiful Mediterranean villages. Weddings take place in historic masias, elegant coastal hotels, private villas and landscaped gardens overlooking the sea, where traditional Catalan architecture and dramatic scenery provide memorable settings for celebrations.
Begur is celebrated for its hilltop old town and nearby coves, while Cadaqués retains the whitewashed character of a traditional fishing village. Further south, Calella de Palafrugell is known for its waterfront houses and sheltered beaches, and the medieval villages of the Empordà countryside reveal stone buildings, vineyards and olive groves. From intimate celebrations beside the coast to grand occasions in restored country estates, the Costa Brava combines Mediterranean beauty with the distinctive heritage of Catalonia.

Marrying in Costa Brava
Short answers from what the venues have told us.
What is a masia, and how does it differ from a Mallorcan finca?
A masia is a Catalan farmhouse of darker, rougher stone, with a more severe character rooted in working Empordà farmland. It is usually larger than a finca, with a central courtyard, arched porticos and farm outbuildings.
Is the Catalan food culture a good fit for a wedding?
Yes, and it is a strong argument for the Costa Brava. The Empordà has anchovies from L'Escala, recuit cheese, local wines and a market culture centred on Girona and Figueres. A menu from Empordà producers by a Catalan chef is distinctive.
