About Six Senses Laamu

The only resort on Laamu Atoll in the southern Maldives, with 94 overwater and beachfront villas and weddings on a private sandbank or the beach.

Six Senses Laamu occupies Olhuveli Island, the only resort on Laamu Atoll in the southern Maldives. The island is ringed by a lagoon, and its 94 villas are set either on stilts above the water or among the vegetation behind the beach, built from local and sustainable materials. Weddings are shaped around the setting: a private sandbank for the ceremony, a beach for the evening dinner, and drummers playing bodu beru, the traditional Maldivian drum, as the couple walk down the aisle. A team of experience specialists plans the ceremony, location and catering with the couple from the first enquiry.

Around the ceremony, the island offers what guests need for several days: a free-form swimming pool, a spa, a house reef for guided snorkelling and a wine cellar that rises above the lagoon. Dinners are served at Leaf, which looks over the organic garden, at Zen, Kaji and Longitude, and on the sand with a personal chef. Marine biologists from the Maldives Underwater Initiative lead snorkels and talks, and the Yin Yang surf break is a short boat ride away. Guests travel from Malé by the resort's private seaplane charter, a 65-minute flight.
