A private bay on the east coast

Ycona Luxury Resort stands on the east coast of Zanzibar, in the north of Marumbi, above a private white-sand bay of about 500 metres. It owns more than 60,000 square metres of tropical forest, manicured grounds and spice garden overlooking the Indian Ocean, and opened to guests at the end of 2023.

Weddings at low tide and in caves

Weddings and celebrations can be arranged on the sand banks that form at low tide, on the beach, in the private caves, at the villas, on the Y pool deck, and in the spice and botanic gardens or beside the tropical lake. The resort’s wedding planners help couples with the budget, menu, decoration, photographers and music, and the newlyweds are gifted one complimentary night.

Forty villas

There are 40 private villas in beach, jungle and family layouts, each with a private pool or splash tub and an immersed dining table. They run from the one-bedroom Honeymoon Beach Front Villa to the Luxury Signature Three Bedroom Villa with a 75-square-metre pool. The architecture combines natural stone, warm wood and large glass panels, and the resort works toward carbon neutrality with solar power.

Table and spa

The resort has four restaurants, three bars and an underground wine cellar. The Heart of Zanzibar is a heart-shaped fine dining restaurant with Pan-Asian dishes among the menu. Private dining can be set in a villa, beside a villa pool or on the sand. The Cave Spa offers couples’ treatments overlooking a lake, with a tide-timed massage in natural coral chambers.
