Leanne and Stephen met at a Halloween party in 2014. After bonding over a mutual lack of costume, the pair exchanged numbers. Exactly a week later they found themselves on a mammoth eight-hour date. It was clear that there was a spark, although Leanne remembers, “He kept saying how cool it was that I was from New Zealand and I had to remind him three times that my accent was from Australia!” Forgiving the dodgy memory, Leanne said yes when Stephen proposed after a romantic walk along the Hudson River against the backdrop of a Manhattan skyline at sunset.
They chose Phuket for their wedding, inviting their closest friends and family to share the special day with them. Our friends at The Wedding Bliss Thailand made sure their day was everything they dreamed…
Leanne’s gorgeous fit and flare strapless mermaid gown by Allure featured a beautiful lace overlay and sweet train. We love the elegant trailing veil that tumbled down her loose hair, accentuating the delicate fabric of the dress and the sweet sparkling Badgley Mischka shoes that peeped out from underneath. Such a stunning look.
Wearing a sharp tailored blue suit and silver tie, Stephen accessorised his look with cool brown shoes and a matching belt. Perfect for the Thai heat, he opted for a slightly more casual suit, both in cut and colour, rather than a more restricting and formal wedding tuxedo.
Trailing orchids fell from beautifully structured displays of pink and white roses in tight spheres that lined the aisle. Gorgeously created by IAMFLOWER, Leanne’s bouquet was a perfect miniature – beautiful roses, peonies and freesia created the perfect floral accessory, tied with the prettiest pink ribbon.
The same displays flowed through the wedding reception as well, creating a lovely, simple continuity throughout the day.
Held outside at the edge of a beautiful infinity pool and looking out to sea, Leanne and Stephen said their vows. As Leanne appeared at the end of the petal-strewn aisle, guests didn’t know whether to look at the bride or groom, Stephen’s reaction to seeing Leanne was just such a joy – it really is so beautiful to see such happiness and adoration on a groom’s face as his love appears! The ‘I do’s’ were Leanne’s favourite part of the wedding day – and ours!
Under a canopy of sparkling chandeliers and twinkling fairly lights, the newlyweds and their loved ones enjoyed a sumptuous al fresco wedding feast. Soaking up a spectacular Thai sunset, guests followed a pathway of candles to the wedding celebration and danced the night away.
