Alila Ubud
A hillside resort above the Ayung River valley in Payangan, near Ubud
A hillside resort of 74 rooms and villas above the Ayung River valley in Payangan, with garden, poolside and pavilion settings for weddings from two guests to a full buyout of up to 150.
Alila Ubud stands high above the Ayung River in the central Bali foothills, in the Payangan district north-west of Ubud. Its 74 rooms and villas are built on stilts over a ravine, in a contemporary take on the thatched-roof houses of the area, and look out across dense jungle and terraced plantation land. The villas include Valley, Pool, Terrace Tree and Forest Edge types, and one two-bedroom Pool Villa.
Weddings use four settings in the grounds. Simply for Two is held at Bale Bengong, an open-air Balinese pavilion, for the couple alone. The Pool Garden takes ceremonies of up to 20 guests, Sculpture Garden II up to 50 and Sculpture Garden I up to 100, with dinner at Cabana Terrace, Plantation Terrace or poolside. The whole resort can be reserved as a buyout, with a dinner for up to 150 guests.
Bali is generally dry from April to October and wet from November to March, so a wet-season back-up plan is compulsory.
