Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana
Boutique rice-field resort of 24 villas and suites just outside Ubud, Bali
Tanah Gajah is a six-hectare resort of 24 villas and suites among rice paddies and gardens just outside Ubud, in the former estate of the art collector Hendra Hadiprana.
Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana, formerly The Chedi Club Ubud, sits in the rice fields just outside the artists' village of Ubud in Bali. The six-hectare estate was once the home of Hendra Hadiprana, an Indonesian art collector and designer, and its twenty-four villas and suites hold pieces from his collection. Alang-alang roofs, open living spaces and gardens, water features and a lotus pond give the grounds a calm, residential feel.
Celebrations here are small and private. Symbolic ceremonies can be arranged in the gardens, beside the lotus pond or in a private villa, followed by seated garden dinners, tasting menus or dining in a villa. Menus draw on Indonesian and international cooking, and The Tempayan restaurant looks across the paddies. Many villas have a private pool and an outdoor bath, and the resort adds an infinity pool, a Balinese-inspired spa, yoga and a programme of cultural experiences that includes Kecak dance. Peak season for weddings runs from May to October, and the resort is also known for honeymoons and stays after the wedding.
