Kay and Chad married in a 15th-century palace on the Grand Canal in Venice. Gathering family from all over the United States was easier than they had thought, as friends and family were thrilled at the excuse to come to the most romantic city in the world, and combine it with a holiday in Italy!
The bride and groom walked down the aisle to “At Last” by Ella Fitzgerald, it had taken Chad 7 years to propose! The ceremony was conducted by Kay’s stepfather and Kay and Chad had written their own moving and heartfelt vows.
An unseasonable last-minute downpour meant that dinner was moved from the garden to the ground floor hall (it’s always important to have a rain option!). It didn’t matter as we lined the walls with tea candles and the tables with candelabras, and displays of peonies, green hydrangeas with blue Agapanthus, creating a romantic atmosphere.
The food was traditional Venetian, starting with Cicchetti (lots of little plates served like Spanish tapas), followed by creamy risotto with basil and lemon and another first course of pasta stuffed with fresh tomato and mozzarella. The second course of Fassona fillet medallions with creamy eggplant.
Luckily after dinner, the rain had stopped and guests moved into the garden for the cutting of the cake and then danced the night away until the early hours.
From the bride: My day was so magical thanks to Amber. I was supposed to have my ceremony outside. The morning of my wedding we woke up to downpours and thunderstorms. With only hours to spare Amber came up with a Plan B that turned out to be more beautiful then plan A would have been. I couldn’t have asked for a better and more elegant wedding day, thanks to Amber.
I wish I could do it over every day. From the photographer to the hair and make-up artist to the food and the videographer. It was all so perfect, more then I have ever dreamed about.
