Douglas Hadeed and Elope Barbados

Elope Barbados is run by a local husband and wife team, Bianca and Douglas Hadeed. Bianca plans and coordinates the weddings and is WPIC certified in wedding planning and coordination. Douglas drives couples to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the marriage licence application.

The business focuses on small weddings. Its packages cover an elopement for the couple alone, a destination or micro wedding for the couple and up to 10 guests, vow renewals and symbolic ceremonies. Larger celebrations of up to 50 guests can be planned, and couples hosting more people can use a consultation service for guidance.

Most ceremonies take place on one of Barbados' beaches, from the calm white sand of the south and west coasts to the rugged Atlantic shore on the east. Other settings, including plantation houses, cliff tops, caves and gardens, can be arranged for an additional fee.

Couples choose a colour scheme and the kind of beach they imagine, and the team arranges the officiant, witnesses, arch, flowers, cake, photography and transport. The business also arranges same-day weddings for cruise passengers and other short-stay visitors, and can recommend villas and hotels for the stay.

How they work

From the first message to the day itself

  1. 01Enquire and choose a package

Couples complete the contact form with their preferred date, and the team replies with the elopement, destination wedding, vow renewal or proposal options and the upgrades available.

  2. 02Secure the date

A 50% non-refundable deposit confirms the booking, and the team then engages the vendors and takes no other wedding on that date.

  3. 03Choose the look and the setting

The couple names a colour scheme and the type of beach or location they want, and the planner proposes the arch, flowers and styling to match.

  4. 04Arrange the marriage licence

The couple applies in person at the Ministry of Home Affairs with passports, birth certificates and return tickets, and the team arranges the letter from the officiant and the transfers.

  5. 05Final payment and details

The balance is due two weeks before the wedding, when the officiant, photographer, cake and any upgrades are confirmed.

  6. 06The ceremony

The coordinator oversees the ceremony on the beach, the toast and the keepsake, and the signed marriage licence and certificate are hand-delivered or sent by registered post.

Questions couples ask

Before you write to them

Where does Elope Barbados plan weddings?

Across Barbados, mostly on the island's beaches. Settings range from the white sand of the south and west coasts to the rugged east and north coasts, and other venues such as plantation houses, cliff tops, caves and gardens can be arranged for an additional fee.

How many guests can a wedding have?

The elopement package is for the couple alone and the destination wedding packages are for the couple and up to 10 guests. Packages are limited to a maximum of 50 guests, and couples planning a larger wedding can use a consultation service.

What are the legal requirements for marrying in Barbados?

There is no waiting period or minimum stay. Both partners apply in person at the Ministry of Home Affairs on a weekday between 8.30am and 3.30pm with valid passports, original birth certificates and return tickets, plus divorce or death documents where relevant. The team arranges the officiant's letter and the transfers.

Can we marry in one day on a cruise stop or short stay?

Yes. The team arranges same-day weddings that cover the legal formalities, the ceremony and the signing of the register on one day.

What do the packages cost?

Package prices are given on request. A 50% non-refundable deposit secures the date and the balance is due two weeks before the wedding.

What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?

A couple who cancel more than two weeks before the wedding forfeit the 50% deposit, and those who cancel within two weeks forfeit 100% of the payments. A change of date is possible in some circumstances, with a fee that depends on the number of vendors booked.

Can the team arrange photography, flowers and music?

Yes. Packages include a photographer or videographer for up to 30 minutes, a bouquet and boutonniere and a cake, and upgrades include hair and make-up, live musicians and a private sunset catamaran cruise.

Can they help with accommodation and a honeymoon?

Yes. The team works with agents who offer villas, hotels and condominiums on the south, west and east coasts, and can also arrange car rental.
