A celebrant can be a great choice to conduct your wedding ceremony, allowing you to include exactly what you want and tailoring the content to suit you and your partner perfectly. Although currently not legally binding, a celebrant-led ceremony offers an endless range of options, you’ll just need to ensure you conduct the legal vows at another time in front of a registrar.

Award-winning celebrant and toastmaster Sonal Dave specialises in multicultural fusion wedding ceremonies. Bringing together different personal values, traditions, and cultures, Sonal works with each couple to ensure their ceremony reflects their relationship and includes all they desire.

How does it work?

It all starts with a free consultation, to discuss your perfect wedding ceremony. There is then a questionnaire to complete, giving Sonal an understanding of what you are looking for in your ceremony. Together, you will then work through your ideas, with Sonal sprinkling her expertise on top and walking with you on your personal planning journey. You will be sent a version of the celebrant's wedding ceremony and be able to amend and add to it as you wish.

Sonal Dave

Every wedding is as unique as the couple getting married, and Sonal likes to make sure the planning process is fun, taking every opportunity to include chosen rituals from your faiths, incorporate family and friends, and tell your story the way you want. She can incorporate traditions from many religions, including the Garland Ceremony, the Milni, Spiritual Phera, Mangalsutra, Saptapadi, tying of the knot, Varmala, Lavaan, Sheva B’rachot, Breaking of the Glass, Hand Tying, Sand Ceremony, Unity Candle and so much more.

Smoothing the process

Understanding that multicultural weddings have the potential to raise questions amongst families, and being aware that there may be certain expectations from elders, Sonal is happy to talk through the ceremony with family members.

This helps them understand each element and how the day will come together. On the day, she will also explain to the wedding guests any part of the ceremony that may be new, to keep everyone involved and comfortable with the celebration.

Sonal believes that every love story is worth celebrating, happily working with multi-faith, inter-faith, no-faith, multicultural, fusion, and LGBTQ couples. Sonal is a British Asian, born in Uganda with roots in India, so has a good knowledge of Asian rituals, music, and culture.

Educated in the UK, she also has a great understanding of other cultures. She is married to Dhani, who is Irish and Indian, from the Caribbean, so fully understands the challenges of being a multicultural couple! Sonal speaks English, Gujarati, and Basic Hindi. She also sings and her husband plays guitar.

Sonal is based in the UK but is happy to travel for destination weddings. Ceremonies can be held anywhere you like – indoors or outdoors, and at any venue, you’ve set your heart on.
