Castello di Collegno
Castello di Collegno is a castle founded in the twelfth century by Umberto III of Savoy, set in a century-old park a few minutes from the centre of Turin and taken by one wedding party at a time.
Wine hills, royal palaces and truffle country in north-west Italy. Piedmont is a wine and food region that the international wedding market has only begun to find. The Langhe hills are planted with Nebbiolo and Dolcetto, the wine landscapes around Barolo and Barbaresco are UNESCO-listed, Turin has Savoy royal palaces, and Alba is white truffle territory.

Food and wine are the region's strongest feature. Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera d'Asti are among Italy's best-regarded wines. A wedding built around the autumn harvest, with truffle season, grape picking and golden hills, centres on the table.
In the Langhe, converted castle estates, historic wine-producing villas and boutique agriturismo with their own vineyards give venues an intimate scale.
A short selection from the venues listed with us. The full collection has every Piedmont venue.

Venues in the guide are listed with 5 Star Weddings. Our editors choose which listed venues to feature, and a place in the collection does not depend on a feature here.
October is the strongest month, with white truffle season, the grape harvest, golden vine foliage and good autumn light.
Recommended wedding months
May, June, September and October

Vineyard Castle. The Langhe and Monferrato hold medieval castles that work as wine estates, such as Castello di Barolo and Castello di Grinzane Cavour, with vineyards around the estate. This is the defining Piedmont wedding venue.
Winery Estate. Converted farmhouses and relais among the Barolo and Barbaresco vineyards, hired exclusively for the weekend with rooms in restored farm buildings. September and October bring harvest colour.
Royal Palazzo. The palaces of the House of Savoy in and around Turin, including Venaria Reale, Stupinigi and Castello del Valentino. Private access for events needs authorisation from the Venaria Reale foundation.
Lakeside Villa. Villas on the shores of Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta, both within Piedmont. Lake Orta has a collection of lakeside properties, and the Sacro Monte of Orta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Truffle Farm. Hazelnut and truffle estates still in production around Alba and Asti, with farmhouse venues and cellars. The white truffle season in October and November shapes the menu, so these suit couples who put the table first.
A hire car is needed in the Langhe, where winding hill roads link the castles and villages. Turin has high-speed rail links with Milan, Rome and Paris.
The Langhe and Monferrato hills have a growing number of estate hotels and restored medieval castles, and are increasingly known as a wine-country wedding destination.
Langhe Hills around Alba. Wine-estate hotels around Barolo, La Morra and Barbaresco give intimate stays among working vineyards.
Alba Town Centre. The truffle town holds a market each October and November, and its historic centre has hotels for guests who prefer a town base to a rural estate.
Monferrato. The rolling zone east of Asti is less visited than the Langhe, with agriturismo properties around Nizza Monferrato and the Barbera wine zone.
Turin. Piedmont's capital gives guests city hotels alongside a countryside wedding, with direct train connections from Paris.
Piedmont has one of the strongest regional food identities in Italy, built on white truffles, beef and respected wines.
Tajarin al Tartufo Bianco. Thin egg-yolk pasta cut into strands and dressed with butter and shaved white truffle. It is the autumn dish of the Langhe.
Vitello Tonnato. Cold sliced veal under a creamy tuna and caper sauce, a Piedmontese classic that often appears as an antipasto at wedding banquets.
Bagna Cauda. A hot communal dip of anchovies, garlic and olive oil, served in a clay pot over a flame, with raw and cooked vegetables. It is social and suits a wedding aperitivo.
Truffle season. White truffle season peaks in October and November, and hotels around Alba raise prices sharply during the international truffle fair. If a truffle experience is part of the itinerary, accommodation should be booked well ahead and checked directly with the estates.
Airports and hire cars. Turin handles domestic and some European routes. Milan Malpensa offers far better long-haul connections and is a drive away. The Langhe estate hotels are spread across the hills with no public transport, so a hire car is essential.
Turin food retail. A well-known Italian food retail concept began in Turin, and its flagship store at Lingotto suits guests with a serious interest in Italian food and wine.
Fog season. The Langhe valley can fill with dense fog from late October to February. Winter weddings are atmospheric, but road transfers between estates can take longer, and early morning ceremonies may have limited visibility.

From October to December, peaking in October and November. The International Alba White Truffle Fair runs through October and November. A truffle hunt followed by a tasting menu suits the season.
Yes, and easily. Many Langhe castle and winery venues run their own estates and will build a tasting into the programme, including barrel room access and winemaker dinners.
Piedmont's wines, Barolo and Barbaresco, rank among Italy's most respected. The landscape is less widely known than Chianti, and more intimate and less visited. Couples who put wine culture ahead of landscape fame often choose Piedmont.
Yes. Orta is far smaller than Como or Maggiore and gets fewer visitors. Villa venues on its shores offer privacy, and Orta San Giulio on the shore is a small, handsome town.
