Meet the photographer
Andreas Markakis Photography
Andreas Markakis was born in the United States to Greek parents and grew up between Connecticut, California and the village of Plomari on Lesvos. He now lives permanently in Chania, on Crete, where he has been photographing weddings for over a decade.
Most of his work takes place in western Crete, and he travels further by commission, in Crete, elsewhere in Greece and abroad. He describes his style as lifestyle with a bright, film-like look, and says he would rather be present in a moment than arrange it, until guests forget the camera is there.
“My approach to all subjects has a sense of lifestyle with a bright film aesthetic.”
Andreas Markakis, Photographer
His galleries show the range. One follows a British couple's clifftop villa wedding above Rethymno, with a vintage convertible and dinner at sunset over the Aegean. Another is a farmhouse celebration under string lights in the Rethymno hills, where the bride wore a hand-embroidered dress. A third follows a UK groom with Greek roots marrying on the island's wild south coast.
Three packages are on offer. Simplicity Wedding and Elopements and Gatherings each cover two hours. The Premium Collection runs to eight hours with a second photographer, a handcrafted album and a complimentary boudoir session. Edited digital galleries range from 150 images to more than 600, depending on the package.
Andreas edits and colour-grades every image himself and does not supply RAW files. He also photographs engagement sessions under the name Love Stories, and has separate practices for families and portraits and for hotels and villas.
