It was built more than 700 years ago and now stands among the ponds that give the estate its name, within 1,000 hectares of forest, parkland and gardens. A contemporary art collection fills the château, and sculptures are placed in the gardens and woodland. Seven rooms and suites occupy the château itself, with further suites in the Longère and six farmhouse cottages in the parkland.

Ceremonies are held on the lakefront lawn of Place de la Chapelle, in the Castle Gardens or in the Longère Gardens, and receptions move to La Laiterie, a 300 square metre hall with exposed beams and a stone terrace, or to Octave, a historic stone barn with its own catering kitchen. Les Combles, the attic of the château, can serve as a bridal lounge. The estate can be taken as a full buyout. Dyades, the estate restaurant, holds one Michelin star, and Le Moulin, the spa in an old watermill, has thermal baths and an indoor pool for the days around the wedding. Limoges and Angoulême-Cognac airports are about 45 minutes away by road.
