About Salomons Estate

Salomons Estate is a manor house in 36 acres at Southborough near Royal Tunbridge Wells, with four licensed ceremony spaces, 47 bedrooms, six cottages and room for 220 seated guests.

Salomons Estate stands in 36 acres of gardens, lakes and ancient woodland at Southborough, close to Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The Grade II listed manor house was built in the early 1850s for Sir David Salomons, the first Jewish Lord Mayor of London, and his son later made the estate a place of scientific work, with electricity generated on site by 1882. The Victorian Theatre began life in the mid 1890s as a Science Theatre, and is now a double height room with galleries on three sides and a built in stage.

Ceremonies are licensed in the Theatre, the Garden Room and the Gold Room, and outdoors on the lawn or the south facing terrace, with the indoor rooms held as the wet weather alternatives. Receptions can use the same rooms or the glass roomed Conservatory, and the estate hosts one wedding each day. Guests can stay in two accommodation buildings and six cottages, among them the Gatehouse and the Cottage, and the meals are cooked by the estate's own kitchen team. Late licences run until midnight or 1am, so the evening can carry on in the same house.

A manor house with a scientific past

The present manor house was built in the early 1850s for Sir David Salomons, the first Jewish Lord Mayor of London. His son, Sir David Lionel Salomons, installed on site electricity generation by 1882, which made the house one of the first in Britain to be lit by electricity.

Phenomenal and meticulous down to the final detail

The team at Salomon's are phenomenal and meticulous down to the final detail. My wife & I were lucky enough to have our wedding here, and honestly everything was flawless. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff are so professional and attentive, the food is lovely and the accomodation was superb.

I want to personally thank Chantelle, who's part of the events team and our wedding coordinator. Words cannot describe how grateful we are to you for everything you did to make our day so special. From the initial email exchanges, to meeting in person and finally the big day, you were truly brilliant!

We can't wait to come back and visit over the years, and reminisce about our perfect day

A wonderful experience from booking to the day

We got married here in June and from the moment we booked it to the day itself, we had a wonderful experience. Our wedding coordinator Erin was great, always getting back to us quickly when we had a query, and she ensured the day ran smoothly. We can’t thank her enough!

As for the venue, it served as the perfect backdrop to our day and everyone complemented how nice it was.

We are so glad we booked Salomons and it will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We would recommend it to anyone!

The most perfect wedding venue

We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding venue than Salomons Estate. From the beginning, the team made the whole planning feel so easy and stress-free.

A special thank you to our wedding co-ordinator, Hollie, who was absolutely amazing throughout the lead up to the wedding and on the day itself. Hollie was so helpful, organised and reassuring and make sure everything was taken care of so we could enjoy the day.

The grounds are so beautiful and were the perfect backdrop for our photographs. Everything ran so smoothly, the food and drinks were amazing and the whole day was so special.

Thank you to everyone at Salomons Estate, especially Hollie, for making our wedding so amazing. We couldn't recommend you more highly!
