Tan House Newland is a countryside house-party venue on the Newland Valley Estate in the Royal Forest of Dean, with a rustic countryside character. A resident menagerie of exotic animals shares the grounds, and in the topiary garden the animals graze beside chandeliers. The estate has gardens, an orchard, meadows and woodland, with a fountain among the meadows. By day the grounds are golden and glorious. After dark chandeliers twinkle among the trees, and uplighters, candlelight and fairy lights transform the garden. The whole venue can be taken for exclusive use, and the setting suits boutique weddings and micro weddings as well as milestone birthdays, hen and stag weekends and celebrations of life.
A wedding weekend here usually runs from Friday to Sunday, with departure at noon. Guests arrive at their leisure and the days are theirs to spend in the grounds, or out in the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley, where Puzzlewood and the Wye Valley Sculpture Garden are among the places to visit. Stays are shaped to the group, whether a group wants wellness, adventure, good food, creative experiences or simply time to reconnect. Private catering, celebration styling, wellness sessions and local adventures can be added to the weekend.

Boutique weddings and micro weddings are among the occasions Tan House Newland is set up for, alongside naming ceremonies, baby showers and special occasions of every kind. The Tan House Teepee is suited to naming ceremonies, and it stands among the gardens, where the resident animals roam. A wedding here is a small, private house party that stays together for the whole weekend.
The Tan House Teepee is where the evening celebration takes place, with welcome drinks followed by a supper styled around the occasion and the couple's own taste. Inside are a central fire pit with sofas, a bar area, a cocktail bar stocked with drinks supplied by the party, LED uplighters and fairy lights, long wooden trestle tables with votives, cross-back chairs and heating. A music system with an acoustic limiter handles the sound. A photo booth area with a chest of props and a sweet cart add to the evening, and the teepee is soft-lit and dressed with the house's own decor.
Tan House has bedrooms for up to 18 guests, and the estate sleeps up to 20 across its houses. Wilderness Retreat is a former dairy next to Tan House. Hilly Haven sits in the hillside with views over the valley and its wild meadows, and a double sofa bed can be made available. Cavanilla, a showman wagon, can be added by separate request. Wood-fired hot tubs, fire bowls and crisp linens are part of the stay.
A private chef is available, with grazing tables, afternoon teas and banquets among the formats. Wilderness Retreat has a kitchen built around a Lacanche oven, and Hilly Haven has its own fully equipped kitchen. Pizza ovens, barbecues and fire pits are on hand for sourdough pizzas and meals outdoors, and suppers are served beneath parasols at The Buttery. Picnic hampers can be arranged for days out in the Forest of Dean.
