Set into the cliff

The Kala Samui sits in the cliffs above Chaweng Noi Bay on Koh Samui. The name comes from the Thai word for coconut shell, chosen for a humble, natural and simple way of doing things, and the resort was shaped around the cliff, the sea and the wind rather than built over them.

Its pools, terraces and sala look out over the Gulf of Thailand, with granite rocks and turquoise water below the cliffside terraces.

Marrying on the deck

Weddings and private events are held on the resort’s sea-facing decks, for parties of up to 100 guests. Ceremonies can be set up on the deck, in the garden or indoors, and symbolic ceremonies, religious ceremonies and vow renewals can all be arranged.

A dedicated wedding and event planner coordinates the day. The standard ceremony setup is sustainable in theme, in natural and eco-conscious décor, and couples who want a fully customised design can be introduced to a trusted wedding planner. The team can also help arrange a photographer, videographer, live music or DJ, cake, hair and make-up, a Thai blessing ceremony and traditional performers.

Dinner above the sea

Catering is by Ninth Shell, the resort’s open-air restaurant, which serves Thai comfort dishes and seafood on a terrace over the Gulf of Thailand. A wedding dinner can be an elegant sit-down meal, a Thai buffet or an alfresco barbecue, and a post-ceremony drinks reception can be buffet or cocktail style.

The spa, and the whole resort

Anahata Spa draws on Thai healing traditions and offers bridal spa packages alongside massage, scrub and facial treatments, and the resort’s wellbeing retreats suit guests staying beyond the wedding.
