A small island, and a boat to reach it

The Treasure Koh Madsum stands on Koh Madsum, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand with a long white beach, about 30 minutes by long-tail boat from the south-west coast of Koh Samui. The boat leaves from the Thong Tanode Bay pier at Baan Pangka, and a private speedboat takes about 15 minutes.

A private car from Samui International Airport to the resort piers is THB 1,200 per vehicle each way for up to four people, and boat transfers should be booked at least one day ahead.

Built around the trees

A local family, the Viriyanons, built the resort. The island has no electric grid, and the villas were designed around the existing trees, which keeps the property hard to see from a distance. Thirty-seven villas sit among the forest and along two beaches.

The wedding

Weddings are private and held on the beach or on a pontoon platform with panoramic sea views. All three packages include planning and a pre-wedding meeting, coordination, a master of ceremonies, floral decoration, a bouquet and corsage, a ring tray, a symbolic wedding certificate, hair and make-up for the bride and a candlelit dinner on the beach. The certificate is symbolic and is not a legal document.

The Premium package adds a cake, video, a Thai buffet and a fire dance show. Receptions can host up to 100 guests, and additional wedding guests are charged THB 300 net per person for seating, decoration, floral confetti and the wedding programme.

Where to stay

There are 16 Sala Villas, eight Tented Villas around a limestone pool, eight Garden Pool Villas, four Beachfront Pool Villas on Sandy Beach, and a two-bedroom Presidential Pool Villa on Coral Beach. The Tented Villas suit wedding parties staying together.

On the island

The Beach serves Thai and international food for lunch, and The Coral is the main restaurant for breakfast and dinner, beside the main pool. Kayaks and snorkelling equipment are available to guests, with coral reefs close to the shore, and there are two pool areas and a spa.
