It is Black and women-owned, based in Peckham, and plays weddings, milestone birthdays, corporate events and private parties. The band has more than ten years of experience, with weddings as its speciality.
Katanya is the founder and director. A singer-songwriter from Peckham, she leads the band on stage and works directly with wedding producers and venue coordinators so that the day runs smoothly. She has performed in international productions including Queen of The Night in Spain and Tina, The Rock Legend in Germany. The band is built around four vocalists, with Xorael, Daniel and Cartier alongside her.
The line-up is chosen to suit the room and the guest list. Six named formations run from the five-piece Cobalt to the ten-piece Sapphire, which has two female and two male vocalists with keyboard, bass, drums, guitar, saxophone and trumpet. Every package comes with a sound engineer, a full PA system, stage lighting and a laptop DJ between sets, and all equipment is PAT tested.
The repertoire centres on Motown, soul, funk and R&B, with disco, reggae, pop and current hits added, and the band learns a special song or first dance on request. It is based in London, covers the whole of the UK and travels for destination weddings, including Tuscany and Sicily. Travel is included in every quote, and the band takes one wedding a day.
