About La Maltese Estate

La Maltese Estate is a five-star boutique hotel of eight rooms and suites on the caldera at Imerovigli, with an infinity pool, sunset terraces and exclusive use for small weddings.

La Maltese Estate is a five-star boutique hotel of eight rooms and suites in Imerovigli, the highest village on the rim of the Santorini caldera, between Fira and Oia. The main building is an aristocratic house of the early twentieth century, restored, with high ceilings, groined vaults and arches that carry touches of Venetian and Black Sea influence. Newly built suites stand beside it, and between the two lie a breakfast veranda and an infinity pool turned towards the caldera and the Aegean.

Weddings take the whole hotel on an exclusive-use basis and stay small by design. Ceremonies are held on the caldera-view terraces or beside the pool, with the sunset ahead. Breakfast is served on the veranda, and dining moves a hundred metres along the cliff to the sister Buddha-Bar Beach, where Greek and Aegean cooking, Santorini wines and a rooftop bar are on offer. The eight suites keep the wedding party together, all soundproofed and air-conditioned. Thira airport is about fifteen minutes away and Fira about ten.

An aristocratic house on the caldera

The main building is a restored aristocratic home of the early twentieth century, with high ceilings, groined vaults, arches and many windows. Bronze, wood, marble and glass carry accents of Venetian and Black Sea influence. Newly built suites sit alongside it.

Vows above the Aegean

Couples marry on the caldera-view terraces or beside the infinity pool, with the caldera, the volcano and the far islands below. Imerovigli is the highest point of the caldera rim and quieter than Oia and Fira on either side.

Sunset dining along the cliff

Breakfast is served on the veranda between the buildings. For dinner and drinks guests walk a hundred metres to the sister Buddha-Bar Beach, where tables are set above the sea and a rooftop bar looks onto the sunset.
