About Six Senses Southern Dunes

Six Senses Southern Dunes is the first resort to open in The Red Sea destination, with 76 keys that can be taken as a full buyout for up to 350 guests.

Six Senses Southern Dunes stands on a high desert plateau at the base of the Hijaz Mountains in Tabuk Province, and it was the first resort to open within The Red Sea destination. Foster + Partners designed it around the Nabataean world of the Incense Route, with villa roofs that echo Bedouin tents and a flower-shaped canopy, the Oasis, at its centre. The resort has 76 keys, including 40 pool villas, and is entirely alcohol-free in line with Saudi law.

Weddings range from a private ceremony in a villa courtyard to a full buyout for up to 350 guests. The Oasis and the Al Sarab terrace are the main ceremony and reception settings, and the events team can also arrange a dinner in the open desert. Four dining concepts draw on Incense Route cooking, and the spa, Earth Lab workshops and Cinema Under the Stars keep guests occupied. Red Sea International Airport is 45 to 60 minutes away by road.

A desert resort designed with Foster + Partners

Six Senses Southern Dunes stands on a high plateau at the foot of the Hijaz Mountains and was the first resort to open in The Red Sea destination. Foster + Partners drew on the Nabataean civilisation of the Incense Route, giving the villas roofs that echo Bedouin tents and dunes and placing a flower-shaped canopy, the Oasis, at the centre.

Two scales of wedding

A small ceremony can take place in the courtyard of a pool villa, followed by a private dinner at the chef's table or under the stars. A larger celebration uses the whole resort, with up to 350 guests, the Oasis as the ceremony setting and Al Sarab for a reception as the mountains turn gold.

Food from the Incense Route

Four dining concepts follow the old trading route, with Al Sarab serving Saudi, Moroccan, Syrian, Persian and Lebanese flavours, Bariya open all day, and Merkaz hosting private dinners and cooking classes. Everything is alcohol-free, and banquets can be served from a formal table to a desert barbecue.

Built to be light on the land

The resort runs entirely on solar energy, bottles its own still and sparkling water and uses copper-silver ionisation in its pools. It was the first hotel in Saudi Arabia to earn LEED Platinum certification.

Frequently asked questions

Six Senses Southern Dunes

Which settings are available for a wedding?

There are four. The Oasis is the canopied heart of the resort, designed by Foster + Partners. Al Sarab sits at the highest point for sunset receptions. A villa courtyard suits the most private ceremony, and the events team can also arrange a ceremony or dinner out in the surrounding desert.

How many guests can attend?

A ceremony or dinner for two is possible at a villa. A full resort buyout takes up to 350 guests across all 76 keys and the dining venues, and the Oasis meeting rooms seat up to 40 for a formal dinner.

Is the resort alcohol-free?

Yes, in line with Saudi law. The resort offers a considered non-alcoholic programme of mocktails, kombucha, wellness shots, Arabic coffee and date-based drinks, built on the same Incense Route ideas as the food.

How do guests reach The Red Sea destination?

The destination is served by Red Sea International Airport, which connects to Riyadh, Jeddah and international hubs. The resort is about 45 to 60 minutes by road from the airport, and guests from Europe usually connect through Riyadh or Jeddah.

What can guests do besides the wedding?

The Earth Lab runs artisan workshops such as Sadu weaving, and there is oud music, Arabic drumming and visits to the nearby Artisan Village. The 3,974 m² spa offers treatments, a biohacking lounge, aerial yoga and a heated quartz-sand bed. Cinema Under the Stars suits welcome or rehearsal evenings.

Can a legal ceremony be held at the resort?

Legal marriages in Saudi Arabia go through official government channels. The events team advises overseas couples on the process and on symbolic ceremonies at the resort, and many couples register their marriage at home.
