Clifftop resort above the Atlantic with Michelin-starred dining, spa and golf, Tenerife
5.01 reviewThe Ritz-Carlton, Abama is a 459-room clifftop resort on the southwest coast of Tenerife that holds one wedding a day, with event spaces for up to 1,000 guests.
The Ritz-Carlton, Abama rises in terraces of terracotta and stone above the Atlantic on the volcanic southwest coast of Tenerife. Designed by Melvin Villarroel with references to a Moorish citadel, it stands among 90,000 trees and 300 species of palms and subtropical shrubs. Its 459 rooms, suites and penthouses are arranged across The Citadel, The Retreat and The Penthouses and Suites Collection. Tenerife South Airport is about 25 minutes away.
The resort holds one wedding a day, so the clifftop gardens and kitchens serve a single celebration. Ceremonies take place at El Mirador, a garden on the cliff's edge with open Atlantic views, in the Persian Garden, beside the Lagoon Pool, or indoors in the Ballroom or the Imperial Suite. A civil ceremony licence is held, and event spaces welcome groups from 10 to 1,000. Dining runs through the resort's own kitchens, including the Michelin-starred M.B and Akira Back. A 2,500 square metre spa, a Dave Thomas golf course and a secluded white-sand beach reached by funicular complete the resort.

Designed by Melvin Villarroel with romantic references to a Moorish citadel, the resort descends the cliffs in terraces of terracotta and stone. It sits among 90,000 trees and 300 species of palms and subtropical shrubs, on the volcanic southwest coast of Tenerife.

The resort hosts a single wedding each day. Ceremonies take place at El Mirador, a garden on the cliff's edge, in the Persian Garden, beside the Lagoon Pool, or indoors in the Ballroom or the Imperial Suite, and event spaces welcome groups from 10 to 1,000.

Dining runs through the resort's own kitchens: M.B, with two Michelin stars under Martín Berasategui, Akira Back, a Michelin-starred modern Japanese room, Txoko, and El Mirador, the cliff-top seafood restaurant where many ceremonies end in a dinner over the Atlantic.

A Dave Thomas championship golf course runs along the clifftop, a 2,500 square metre spa looks out over the Atlantic, and a secluded white-sand beach lies below, reached by the resort's own funicular.

We stayed in the Tagor Villas for our honeymoon and had an incredible stay. The staff at the Tagor Villas go above and beyond for you all day and all night. Julio and Luis are fantastic and will take care of you your entire stay. We loved the room, the view, the scenery, and the pool/beach. This resort is stunning and the sunset views are breathtaking. The food is top notch and worth every penny. Our favorite were Txoko and Verona. The level of service at this Ritz is unlike any other I have been to (which is many). I cannot thank them enough for making our honeymoon so special. One huge shout
