Hotel and country estate in Perthshire, open since 1924, with resident weddings
Gleneagles is a hotel on an 850-acre estate near Auchterarder in Perthshire, about an hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow, hosting weddings in its Ballroom and private rooms.
Gleneagles stands on an 850-acre estate in Perthshire, near Auchterarder, with the Ochil Hills and the Highlands beyond. The hotel opened in 1924 and sits about an hour by road from Edinburgh and Glasgow, with its own railway station on the estate. The Ballroom, the original event space from the opening year, has chandeliers, mirrored walls, a stage and a sprung floor. Henry Hall provides a larger banqueting room, and the Drawing Room, the Parlour and the Glendevon take smaller dinners and receptions. Marquees can be added for bigger guest lists.
Weddings are resident only, so every guest stays at the hotel and shares breakfast the next morning. Scottish law allows a ceremony in any place the couple chooses, whether the Ballroom or a hillside on the estate. The hotel plans the menus, wine list, cake and flowers in-house, and can arrange pipers, bands, DJs and ceilidh callers. The celebration can run over several days, with the Sporting Club for tennis and padel, the Spa with its 20 treatment rooms, three golf courses, and a hillside bothy with Highland cows. Rooms and suites range from Country Rooms to the Royal Lochnagar and Tower Suites.
