A proposal is a single moment with a great deal of preparation behind it, and at Vienna Picnics the preparation is somebody else’s job. Maggy Müller founded the business in Vienna in 2023, after more than ten years as a managing director in gastronomy. She scouts the location, lays the table, arranges the food and drink, and clears everything away afterwards. Her own line for proposals is that the only thing left to bring is the ring. The same set-up, with a chandelier hung above a low table, also becomes an elopement or a small celebration for up to 24 guests.
A low table, a parasol and a chandelier
The work centres on a styled picnic: a low table, cushions, rugs, a parasol, flowers and candles, and for proposals and elopements a floral arch or a hanging chandelier. The photographs on her listing show how far that stretches. One has the chandelier on an alpine meadow at sunrise, another a gold and red-rose version in a spring woodland, another a heart-shaped arch on the lawn in front of a castle.

Every picnic includes savoury charcuterie boards, a raspberry-pistachio cake, chilled sparkling wine and water, set-up and clean-up, and the table, decor, cushions, rugs, plates, glasses and parasol. Vegetarian, vegan and non-alcoholic options are available, and each luxury picnic comes with an instant camera, so guests can keep ten photographs as a souvenir. Maggy also carries a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit to every set-up.
Four ways to book it
Vienna Picnics sells four packages, each priced from a stated figure, with add-ons priced separately.
- The Luxury Picnic starts at €799 and suits up to 24 guests. Food, drink and a location from her partners are included.
- The Proposal starts at €1,599: a flower arch setting, the venue fee and photography coverage, with a rose bouquet and a bottle of champagne.
- The Proposal Picnic starts at €2,599 and adds a luxury picnic, with its charcuterie board and a toast, to the arch, bouquet, venue fee and photographer.
- The Elopement Picnic starts at €3,999 for two and runs from two to 24 guests, with food and drink, a just married cake, fresh flower decor and photography.
The same set-up serves other occasions around a wedding: bridal showers, birthdays and anniversaries, and corporate or team picnics for up to 24 guests, which are priced on request. Her website also notes that the extras are not part of the package prices, so a couple adding music or a videographer should ask for those figures at the quote stage.

Where it happens
Locations come from a list of trusted venue partners in and around Vienna, outdoors or indoors. Couples describe what they have in mind and Maggy scouts the site, which can mean a castle park, a hillside view, a garden or, when the weather does not cooperate, a living room or hotel room. The heart-shaped arch in front of a castle and the proposal on a Vienna canal, with the boat wreathed in white flowers, come from the same portfolio.

A standard picnic lasts two hours, with a 15-minute grace period for late arrivals, and extra time can be booked. If it rains, the picnic can move indoors, for example to a home, an Airbnb or a hotel room, or be rescheduled to a later date. Expenses already incurred, such as food and flowers, are not refundable.

Photographs, music and the extras
Photography by a photographer Maggy trusts is part of the Proposal, Proposal Picnic and Elopement Picnic packages, so the moment is recorded without anyone having to be briefed. Anything beyond the package is covered by professional external providers. The add-ons on her website and listing include live music, a violinist, a videographer, a photo booth, a special cake and, for elopements, a real chandelier.

The detail is where the styling shows. The elopement packages include a just married cake to cut together, and the flowers are chosen with the couple, from the roses of a proposal to the anthurium and rose arrangement on a mountain table below.

The food and the extras behind the table
The food comes from named Viennese suppliers rather than one kitchen. The raspberry-pistachio cake is made by the bakery Wiener Backsalon, and the charcuterie boards, a Brettljause of Viennese savoury delicacies with cheese, ham, vegetables, fruit and fresh baguette, by SOTH.Catering. Her corporate event page lists further add-ons that give a sense of the range: customised cakes, beef tatar pralines from Tatarie Marie, a champagne tasting that compares Italian prosecco, Austrian sparkling wine and French champagne, and live music from a harpist.
The person behind it
Maggy Müller’s route into this work runs through hospitality. Her website says she was a managing director in gastronomy for over ten years, organising and setting up events, and that her training as a sommelière is part of the foundation of every luxury picnic. Having a picnic, she says, has always been part of her family: her mother took a tablecloth everywhere, so there was always a nice table for their adventures. She describes the business she started in 2023 as one that did not exist in Austria before.
Her website shows an Austria Wedding Award 2026 badge and a UKWHA winner badge. She also gives keynotes and consulting on starting a business, social media and working as a mother and founder, and a blog post from December 2025 looks at destination elopements in Austria and at the luxury picnic as an intimate way to anchor a ceremony or a celebration.
What an elopement picnic is, and what it is not
The Elopement Picnic is a styled celebration for two to 24 guests, with decor, food, drink and photography. Her website does not describe a legal ceremony, an officiant or marriage paperwork as part of it, so a couple marrying legally in Austria should ask how the civil formalities sit around the day. For a proposal there is nothing to arrange beyond the set-up.

Planning with Vienna Picnics
Couples book through the enquiry form on the website, by email or by WhatsApp, with their wishes, preferences and ideal date. A quote follows, then the choice of picnic, flower arch, bouquet colours and venue from her trusted location partners, and then any extras, which are arranged with external professionals. Maggy plans the details, prepares the food and flowers and sets up before the couple arrive. For a proposal, the advice is to secure a golden-hour slot early, and weekdays and shoulder-season dates are the easiest to secure. The Luxury Picnic and the Elopement Picnic suit up to 24 guests, and any guests beyond the agreed number are charged extra. The business is based in Vienna’s 21st district and works in and around Vienna and across Austria; its work is also on the Vienna and Austria pages of the directory, and a wider picture of the city is in the Wedding Atlas.
Vienna Picnics suits couples who want a proposal staged properly, or a small elopement with a styled table and a photographer, without handling suppliers themselves. It is not a venue for a large wedding, and the limits are plain on the website: up to 24 guests, a two-hour picnic and weather costs that are not refunded.
