Contemporary private villa in the hills above Lake Como · Lombardy
A private villa in the hills above Lake Como, designed by Arturo Montanelli and hung with art by Velasco Vitali, taken whole for intimate weddings.
Villa Nascosta is a private villa in the hills above Lake Como in Lombardy, a recent, meticulously made property rather than a historic estate. The architect Arturo Montanelli designed it to blend with its surroundings, combining modern design with the natural setting. Open-plan interiors with floor-to-ceiling windows flow directly onto expansive terraces and gardens, so the lake and mountains frame the rooms. Paintings and sculptures by Velasco Vitali run through the house, exploring themes of human connection and contemporary culture. The hillside position gives panoramic lake and mountain views while keeping the villa secluded.
Weddings here are small and private. The villa is booked on an exclusive-use basis, so the entire villa, gardens, spa and pool are reserved for the wedding party, and only a select number of weddings are held each year. It suits milestone celebrations and dinners with loved ones rather than large-scale events. The emphasis is on privacy, quiet sophistication and a slow pace, with life slowing down among the lake and hills. Guests attending a larger celebration elsewhere on the lake can also use the villa as a hidden place to stay, away from the busier areas. The villa is available for private hire throughout the year.

Ceremonies are held in the panoramic garden or beneath the pergola, and the ceremony takes up to 30 guests. Before it, the wedding morning can be spent by the pool or in the spa, where steam, facials, deep-tissue massages, bridal beauty preparation and grooming for the groom are available, along with side-by-side couples' treatments and post-wedding pampering. Extra services and treatments are booked in advance.

Aperitivi and cocktails are served on the terraces, followed by a seated dinner for up to 25 guests on the terraces or in the garden. A standing reception takes up to 35. The infinity-edge pool is framed by cypress trees and sculpted stonework, with sun loungers, shaded pergolas and ambient evening lighting, and becomes the setting for candlelit cocktails and moonlit celebrations after dark. Welcome cocktails and farewell brunches fit around the wedding.

Six double bedrooms, arranged as suites, are finished in soft textures with a palette of soft blues, earthy greens and warm neutrals taken from Lake Como. Each has an en-suite bathroom with underfloor heating, air conditioning and an LED satellite TV. The villa sleeps up to 12, with further accommodation arranged nearby if needed, and the minimum stay is three nights. Housekeeping visits every other day, linen is changed every three days, and welcome shopping and final cleaning are part of the stay.

Dining centres on private chef experiences, menus and fine Italian wines. Three fully equipped kitchens, with oven, fridge/freezer, toaster, mixer and kettle, suit private chef takeovers, buffet breakfasts, rustic pizza nights, garden brunches and multi-course feasts overlooking the water. Optional additions are a breakfast buffet, with or without a private chef, private chef and service staff for lunches and dinners, a wine list with sommelier pairings, and cooking classes using local, seasonal ingredients.
