Meet the cakes
Toyin (Tutan) Opebiyi and Tees Bakery
Tees Bakery was founded in 2015 by Toyin (Tutan) Opebiyi, a trained barrister who went on to work in banking. The business began when she could not find a baker to make the Jungle Book cake she wanted for her first son's third birthday, so she made it herself. That first cake led her to study the work of leading cake designers and to build a luxury cake business from Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire.
Over the years Tees Bakery became a multi-award-winning wedding and celebration cake business, working in four themes: classical and elegant, cutting edge and contemporary, deluxe baroque and exquisite minimalism. Signature sugar flowers and fine sugar work run through the portfolio, from tall tiered wedding cakes to sculpted celebration cakes. In 2018 the bakery won Best Wedding Cake Company at The UK Wedding Awards, and its cakes have appeared in magazines including ELLE, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Brides and You & Your Wedding.
“As a perfectionist with a passionate desire for creativity, I pour my best efforts into every creation. My goal is that each cake tells a story that combines artistic design with a mouth-watering taste to leave a lasting impression in the mind of the client”
Toyin Opebiyi, founder
Tees Bakery is no longer accepting cake orders and now offers consultancy services only. Toyin advises people who want to start or grow a cake business, with a free one hour discovery call and three paid services: a business strategy session, a branding and identity workshop and a complete business makeover that includes website development support.
