Sonal Dave

A celebrant-led ceremony lets a couple decide what is included and shape the wording around themselves. These ceremonies are not currently legally binding, so the legal vows are made separately before a registrar.

Sonal Dave specialises in multicultural fusion ceremonies that bring together different values, traditions and cultures. She works with multi-faith, inter-faith, no-faith, multicultural, fusion and LGBTQ couples.

She can include rituals from many traditions, among them the Garland Ceremony, Milni, Spiritual Phera, Mangalsutra, Saptapadi, tying of the knot, Varmala, Lavaan, Sheva B'rachot, Breaking of the Glass, Hand Tying, the Sand Ceremony and the Unity Candle. She is also willing to talk the ceremony through with family members, and explains unfamiliar elements to guests on the day.

Sonal is British Asian, born in Uganda with roots in India, and educated in the UK. She is married to Dhani, who is Irish and Indian from the Caribbean. She speaks English, Gujarati and basic Hindi, sings, and is based in the UK. Ceremonies can be held at any venue, indoors or outdoors, and she travels for destination weddings.

A brilliant part of our day

Sonal was such a brilliant part of our day! As a mixed couple, it really mattered to us that our celebrant reflected both our worlds. She created a ceremony that felt true to us, guiding our 450 guests with warmth and humour, and making sure both families felt fully included. My wife's side loved how she brought their traditions to life in a modern, meaningful way, and my side felt informed and involved. So many guests asked about her afterwards and said how amazing she was. We'd recommend her in a heartbeat!

Calm, friendly and welcoming

I had the pleasure of working as the wedding coordinator for an Indian celebration this year, where Sonal was the celebrant. She was absolutely amazing - so calm, friendly, and welcoming. It was a true joy to watch and listen to the ceremony she led. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a celebrant.

She was the star of the show

Sonal was an outstanding Lady Toastmaster at the #EthnicityAwards for the ceremony. She got the evening right and was compere with Marvin Humes. She went above and beyond her role of reading the names of those shortlisted, she bounced off our award presenters, helped the ceremony run smoothly as was well prepared, and really importantly got all the names right - not an easy task. She was the star of the show. Great banter. I would definitely use Sonal again without a doubt, she was great to work with and definitely added to the event.
