Anne-Marie Jenkins and The Wedding Shop

The Wedding Shop was founded in 1990 and has run wedding gift lists for more than 35 years. It is led by Anne-Marie Jenkins, who joined as a Gift Guru around twenty years ago and now serves as chief executive. The company was founded and is run by women.

A list can mix products from over 300 brand partners, from Le Creuset and KitchenAid to The White Company and Nkuku, with experiences, vouchers, honeymoon funds, personal cash funds and charity donations. Couples can also add up to ten gifts from other UK retailers. Prices for branded products are set at the recommended retail price, and guests are offered a price match guarantee.

“Giving a gift you can keep for life is so lovely.”

Monica and Alexander, a Wedding Shop couple

Every couple is paired with a Gift Guru, who advises on what to include and how to arrange the list. Appointments take place at the Townhouse on Fulham Road, a four-storey house styled as ten rooms, where couples scan the barcodes of the gifts they like on their phone. A virtual appointment gives the same service for couples who cannot travel to London.

Guests are sent a link, a QR code or an insert card for the invitation, and can give a whole gift, contribute to a larger one through group gifting, or add to a fund. Gifts are collected in the company's warehouse and delivered together on a date the couple chooses, usually four to eight weeks after the order is placed. Money pledged to a list is held in a separate trust account.

How they work

From the first message to the day itself

  1. 01Create a list

Register online or at the Townhouse. Registering is free, and a Gift Guru is assigned to guide the choice of gifts, funds and experiences.

  2. 02Personalise it

Add a photo, a background and a welcome message, put the gifts you most want at the top, and add up to ten items from other UK retailers.

  3. 03Share with guests

Publish the list and share its web address, a QR code or the free insert cards sent with the invitations. Guests can search for the couple by surname.

  4. 04Keep track

Purchases and guest messages appear in the Thank you Manager, or notifications can be switched off to keep the gifts a surprise.

  5. 05Order and delivery

After the wedding the couple places the order, the gifts are stored in the warehouse for up to three months at no charge, and a delivery date is booked.

Gifts delivered together

It's fantastic that all your gifts are delivered together - it's like Christmas Day! Having a wedding registry gave our guests so much choice. We added experiences, vouchers, and products. The service was super easy to use, and we especially loved the Thank you Manager tool.

Easy for our guests

We wanted to make things as easy as possible for our guests, and they were so grateful we chose The Wedding Shop. They really appreciated having the option to buy us gifts, donate to a bespoke fund we set up, or opt for group gifting. Plus, we absolutely loved visiting the showroom - we could've stayed there for days!

A visit to the Townhouse in Chelsea

We had the most wonderful experience with The Wedding Shop and would highly recommend it to any future bride and groom-to-be. We particularly loved visiting the Townhouse in Chelsea. We felt so inspired and excited when we left, that we started our wedding list online that evening.

Questions couples ask

Before you write to them

Does a Wedding Shop gift list cost anything?

There is no fee to couples. The service includes storage for up to three months and two free deliveries in the UK. Guests pay £3.99 delivery on gifts under £75 and a 1.9 per cent handling fee on cash and honeymoon contributions, which is not charged on charity donations.

When should we start a gift list?

The Wedding Shop suggests publishing the list before the wedding invitations go out, so that a card with the list details can be included. A list can be started from over a year before the wedding to the last minute and changed until the day. It closes automatically three months after the wedding unless the couple keeps it open.

Can we add gifts from other shops?

Yes. Alongside the brand partner range, couples can add up to ten custom products from other UK retailers. Money pledged towards these is credited to the couple's account to spend with that retailer.

How do honeymoon and cash funds work?

Couples can use ready-made honeymoon experiences or create their own fund with their own images and wording. Cash can be withdrawn after the wedding, with two withdrawals free of charge, or converted into product or voucher balance for added value.

Is the money guests give held safely?

Money pledged to a list is held in a separate trust account, and the website uses SSL encryption for card payments.

Where is the Townhouse and how long is an appointment?

The Townhouse is at 312 Fulham Road, London SW10 9UG. Appointments last one hour or 90 minutes, and the 90-minute slot suits couples who want more guidance. Registering a list before the visit is recommended.

When do the gifts arrive and can they go abroad?

Gifts are usually delivered within four to eight weeks of the order, on a date the couple books. Most gifts can be shipped internationally, except large furniture, with a delivery fee and usually import costs.

Can unwanted gifts be returned?

Gifts cannot be returned once delivered, except damaged or faulty items or items that differ from their description. Couples can swap branded gifts for other branded products before placing their final order.
