YD Events is an event planning, design and catering company in Playa del Carmen, on Mexico's Caribbean coast. Its team plans destination weddings and other events across the Riviera Maya, with work in Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Cancún, and has done so for over two decades. Catering was where the company began, and it remains part of every event it runs.
Yazmín De La Mora founded the company, and today she is its founder and operations manager. Arwed Lentz is general director, handling logistics and finance. José Constantino leads service on the day as service captain, and Ana Mendoza runs the warehouse that holds the rentals and equipment. A wider team supports them at events.
“The secret to a good event is to maintain balance.”
Yazmín De La Mora, founder and operations manager
The company coordinates religious, civil, symbolic, Mayan, South Asian and Jewish ceremonies and the receptions that follow. For Mayan ceremonies it works with shamans of the region, and for Jewish weddings it arranges kosher service. Couples can also marry in a civil ceremony that is legally valid in Mexico.
The planners focus on private venues, from beaches and jungle gardens to cenotes, and keep a catalogue of rentals that includes tables, chairs, glassware and torches. Design is handled in-house, from decoration and ambient settings to full production, so a couple deals with one team for planning, styling and food.
Menus are written for each event, from taquizas to kosher, and the company also provides private chef service. Couples who are still deciding what they want can book a first consulting session to talk through the destination, suppliers and venues before committing to a full plan.
