About Caswell House

A family-owned, exclusive-use wedding venue in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, built around three medieval barns, landscaped gardens and in-house catering by Caswell Kitchen.

Caswell House in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds

Caswell House is a family-owned wedding venue in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, taken on an exclusive-use basis so that a wedding has the whole venue to itself. Exclusive hire includes the three medieval barns, which are built of Cotswold stone, and the estate also has a walled garden, a historic moat and a tree-lined orchard to explore. The estate runs on pure spring water, underfloor heating powered by a wood pellet boiler, solar-generated electricity and a natural reed bed filtration system. Couples can choose an overnight stay, and a team takes care of every detail with a personal service.

On the wedding morning, The Dressing Room and The Games Room are set aside as preparation spaces for the wedding party, available from 9 am and equipped with Nespresso machines. The team sets up the decorations on the day and packs them away afterwards, with a set area for collecting items the following day, and an extensive list of added extras is available to borrow or hire. Preferred suppliers are required for catering, lighting and alternative furniture, while couples choose their own vendors for the other parts of the day. The venue is fully accessible, with flat, step-free access and wheelchair-friendly spaces.

Vows in the barns and at the Loggia

Wenmans Barn is licensed for indoor ceremonies, with vows taken under restored oak beams. The Loggia is the outdoor ceremony space, and Caswell House holds both an indoor and an outdoor ceremony licence. Ceremonies are accommodated from 1 pm, with a recommended start time of 2 pm to suit the flow of the day. Couples who prefer a church wedding can use the historic churches in Witney and Bampton, a short drive away.

Receptions

Celebrations across the medieval barns

After the ceremony, guests relax in the landscaped courtyard garden and around the Cotswold stone barns, which are also the backdrop to the wedding breakfast. Fairy lights are included in Bartlett's Barn and Joslins Barn, and further lighting can be arranged through the specialist supplier Oakwood Events. Wenmans Barn hosts the evening celebrations and dancing, and a bridge, a pergola and trees outside are decorated with fairy lights for night-time photographs. Venue hire includes tables, chairs and a Bose PA system.

Caswell House is a gorgeous collection of country barns nestled in the breathtaking Cotswolds. We had a Christmas themed wedding in December and the staff made it the most perfect day ever. It was everything we dreamed of and more!

Claudia & Paddy

Our favourite image is the photo of Paddy and I walking out of the loggia and the confetti is thrown up as we walk through. We remember that moment so vividly seeing all of our friends and family on the most beautiful day filled with so much joy and love. It was magical.
