Dimas Frolov Photography

Dimas Frolov, originally Dmytro, was born in Dnipro, Ukraine, in 1980 and trained as an energy engineer. He bought his first small digital camera in 2005, moved to a DSLR in 2007 and left engineering that year to photograph full time. A family trip abroad planned for two months in 2014 became more than ten years living and working overseas, and since April 2025 he has been based in Lisbon.

His wedding work is natural, honest and unhurried. He describes sessions as calm and unobtrusive, with no forced poses or staged moments, and aims to record the laughter, the tears, the looks and the hugs that make a day particular to the couple. Where direction helps, for family photographs and couple portraits, he gives it clearly and lightly.

On the day he arrives a little early to get to know the surroundings and set up, then stays with the day from the large celebrations to the quiet moments in between. His portfolio shows full wedding days from preparations to the late dancing, including a complete open-air wedding at Casal do Frade in Sesimbra, photographed through bright midday light, pool reflections, sunset backlight and a dark evening reception.

He photographs in Lisbon, Cascais and Sintra and will travel to couples elsewhere in Portugal and Europe; his portfolio also includes destination weddings on Koh Samui in Thailand. Finished photographs are delivered in a private online gallery that can be viewed, downloaded and shared with family.

How much does a wedding photographer in Lisbon cost with Dimas Frolov?

Wedding photography in Portugal starts at €700. Every wedding is different, so the package is chosen together after you send your date, location and plans.

How far ahead should I book?

He recommends booking 6 to 12 months ahead, and earlier for popular dates.

What is his photography style?

Natural and documentary: calm, unobtrusive coverage with no forced poses, natural colour, and clear direction only when it helps, for example for family photographs and couple portraits.

How do we receive our photographs?

Through a private online gallery that you can view, download and share. For his standard photo sessions the fully edited photographs arrive within three to four weeks at most.

Does he photograph weddings outside Lisbon?

Yes. He works across Lisbon, Cascais and Sintra and travels elsewhere in Portugal and Europe. His rates are quoted for Lisbon, and travel and accommodation elsewhere are discussed separately.

How does the date booking work?

Reserving your date is a separate booking service. From that moment he declines other requests for the date. The coverage on the day is a second service, paid on the wedding day or earlier, and both appear on the invoice before you pay.
