About Mastropà

Mastropà is an exclusive resort in a restored nineteenth-century country house near Massafra, with nine rooms, a saltwater pool and ceremony settings among olive trees above the Gulf of Taranto.

Mastropà occupies Casino Mastropaolo, a country house that began in the early nineteenth century as a hunting lodge and later served as the summer home of landowning families producing oil and wheat. It stands on a hill in the Massafra countryside, in the Terra delle Gravine natural park, looking across to the Gulf of Taranto. After a long conservative restoration the house reopened as an exclusive resort with nine rooms, an 18-hectare park, a saltwater pool and gardens of olive, carob and lemon trees.

Weddings are held on an exclusive-use basis over a minimum of two nights. Civil and symbolic ceremonies take place among the olive trees or at the edge of the ravine, and receptions are set in the courtyard in front of the house. The Sala dei Limoni and the Pergola del Gelsomino provide indoor and covered space for up to 120 guests in wet weather. The kitchen cooks Apulian dishes from organic, seasonal ingredients grown on the estate, and breakfast is a buffet baked each morning. Wellness treatments, cooking classes and walks to the Gravina Trovanza rock village are offered on request. Brindisi Airport is 55 minutes away by road.

A hunting lodge turned country house

Casino Mastropaolo began as a hunting lodge in the early nineteenth century, the summer home of landowning families who produced oil and wheat. It stands on a hill in the Massafra countryside overlooking the Gulf of Taranto. The present owners bought the house in 2012 and spent ten years restoring it, planting thousands of trees and regenerating the Mediterranean scrub around it.

Civil and symbolic ceremonies are held among the olive trees or at the edge of the ravine, with its rock caves as a backdrop. Receptions use the courtyard in front of the house and the gardens, with the Sala dei Limoni and the Pergola del Gelsomino as the rain option for up to 120 guests. Weddings are held on an exclusive-use basis over a minimum of two nights.

FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

The perfect hosts for our magical wedding. Gianna and Mimmo went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend extra special. Mastropà is the most stunning venue, it couldn’t have been more perfect. Gianna and my wife were WhatsApp’ing almost every day for 18 months in the lead up and she was so attentive. The food was exceptional and we can’t thank them enough for what they did for us.
