About Elmore Court

Elmore Court is a historic country house near Gloucester, held by the Guise family since 1262, with an eco-built events hall, sixteen bedrooms and exclusive use of the estate.

Elmore Court is a historic country house near Gloucester, off the A38 and close to junction 12 of the M5. The Guise family has held the estate since 1262, when it was granted for a yearly rent of one gillyflower. Inside are painted rooms hung with portraits and tapestries and a great Hall, and the gardens and parkland are being gradually rewilded, with meadows and woodland returning and the house heated by biomass from its own trees.

Weddings take the whole estate on exclusive use. Vows are made in the Hall of the house or in the Gillyflower, a purpose-built events hall named after that ancient rent. It has a living roof and a timber lining, and holds parties from around 60 up to 200 or more. The kitchen cooks estate-grown and local produce, and couples may bring their own caterers instead. Sixteen bedrooms in the main house, a Coach House and woodland treehouses keep the wedding party together. Bristol Airport is around an hour away by road.

A family house since 1262

Elmore Court has belonged to the Guise family since 1262, when the land was granted for a yearly rent of one gillyflower. The present owner, Anselm Guise, now opens the house for weddings. Painted rooms hung with portraits and tapestries, a great Hall and gardens running out into parkland make up the setting.

A family house since 1262

The Gillyflower

Beside the house stands the Gillyflower, an events hall built for the purpose with a living roof and a warm timber lining. It was designed so that a lively party can carry on late without disturbing neighbours, with a serious sound system and room to dance. It takes gatherings from around 60 guests up to 200 or more.

The Gillyflower

Estate-grown food

The kitchen works with fresh, seasonal produce, much of it grown by the estate's own gardeners, from bespoke wedding breakfasts to relaxed feasts. The cellar offers wine at merchant prices, and couples who would rather bring their own caterers may do so.

A rewilding estate

Meadows, woodland and wilder ground are replacing lawns across the estate, and the house is heated by biomass from its own woods. The party stays on site in the main house, the Coach House and the treehouses, so the wedding becomes a weekend.
