Thirteenth-century Benedictine abbey in the wooded hills near Pietralunga, Umbria
The Abbazia San Faustino is a Benedictine abbey completed in 1289, taken in full for weddings, with a former abbey church, stone halls, a heated pool and 16 restored suites.
The Abbazia San Faustino is a Benedictine abbey that the monks completed in 1289, standing at about six hundred metres in the wooded hills near Pietralunga, on the old border between Tuscany and Umbria. Restored as a residenza d'epoca, it is handed over entirely to one wedding at a time: the church, the stone halls, the park, the garden and the heated pool.
The civil ceremony is held in the former thirteenth-century church, the old apse and fresco behind the couple, with the mayor attending, or in the gardens. A wedding breakfast for up to 180 follows beneath vaulted stone or on a glazed loggia above the valley, cooked in-house by the L'Ora Sesta kitchen from Umbrian produce, the orchard and the kitchen garden. Sixteen restored suites with antiques and beamed ceilings sleep up to about fifty-six, so the party stays together, and no time limits apply to the celebration. Perugia and its airport are forty minutes away and Gubbio thirty.

The Abbazia San Faustino is a Benedictine abbey that the monks completed in 1289, standing at about 600 metres in wooded hills on the old border of Tuscany and Umbria. It has since been restored as a residenza d'epoca and is used by one wedding at a time.

The civil ceremony takes place in the former thirteenth-century church, with the old apse and fresco behind the couple, and the mayor will attend. The gardens are the alternative. A wedding breakfast then follows in the vaulted stone halls or on a glazed loggia above the valley.

A formal garden, an orchard, a heated pool on the lawns and a large park of medieval corners and long views give room for drinks, photographs and a celebration that can run late, since no time limits apply.

The suites hold antiques, wrought-iron and carved beds, beamed ceilings and terracotta floors, and some have private sitting rooms. Together they sleep up to about 56, so the whole party stays together for the weekend.
