Historic rooftop hotel above the Bay of Naples, Campania
The Britannique Naples is a Hilton Curio Collection hotel in an 1870 palazzo, with a rooftop ceremony terrace, a glass pavilion for receptions and 72 rooms and suites above the Bay of Naples.
The Britannique Naples occupies a terracotta palazzo on the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, first opened in 1870 as the Pensione Britannique by the Scottish entrepreneur Emilia Macpherson. Six floors now make up a Hilton Curio Collection hotel with 72 rooms and suites, each floor painted in a different colour of Naples. From the top of the building the view runs across the Gulf of Naples to Vesuvius and Castel dell'Ovo.
Weddings can be held for up to 150 guests. Ceremonies take place on the open rooftop terrace under a white floral arch, or inside Le Pavillon, a glass-and-timber room hung with wicker chandeliers, where a seated banquet suits up to 120. The Macphersons restaurant cooks contemporary Neapolitan dishes beside a wall of wine, and The NIQ rooftop bar serves aperitivi before dinner. The hotel continues to operate during an event, with the rooftop spaces available on a partial exclusive basis. Naples Airport is about 45 minutes away and Naples Centrale station about 15.

Emilia Macpherson, a Scottish entrepreneur, founded the Pensione Britannique in 1870 on the Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Its guest book later carried the names of Arthur Conan Doyle, Virginia Woolf, George Bernard Shaw, Crown Prince Umberto di Savoia and Queen Frederica of Greece. The terracotta palazzo of six floors is now a Hilton Curio Collection hotel and still looks over the Gulf of Naples, Vesuvius and Castel dell'Ovo.

The ceremony is held on the open rooftop terrace, framed by a white floral arch and the Bay of Naples. Guests then move into Le Pavillon, whose wicker chandeliers hang above tables in white linen while the city falls away towards the sea. The Macphersons restaurant, with its wall of wine, can receive the evening.

Each of the six floors takes its palette from a different part of Naples, from gardens and domes to the blue of the bay. Rooms have herringbone parquet, Vietri-tiled bathrooms and designer furniture, and many have balconies over the Gulf or the rooftops. Four-poster suites and junior suites with separate living areas suit the wedding party.
