Hilltop resort in a 33-acre olive grove above Rutherford, Napa Valley, California
Auberge du Soleil is a hilltop resort above Rutherford in Napa Valley, where weddings take over the whole estate with vows on the Ceremony Terrace and a Michelin Star kitchen.
Auberge du Soleil began in 1981 as Napa Valley's first fine-dining restaurant, opened by Claude Rouas and Bob Harmon on a terraced hillside above Rutherford. The inn followed in 1986, and today the resort holds 50 guestrooms and suites within 33 acres of heritage olive and oak trees, with views across the vineyards of the valley floor to the Mayacamas Mountains. It sits about 65 miles north of San Francisco.
Weddings here take the whole estate. Apart from a rehearsal dinner or farewell brunch, each wedding requires a full buyout, so every space belongs to the couple. Vows are exchanged on the Ceremony Terrace. Receptions run in the Bellevue Ballroom, which holds up to 120, while Maison d'Arbre, La Rotonde and Le Salon suit smaller dinners and Le Jardin offers a garden terrace beneath olive trees and a wisteria arbor. All food comes from the resort's Michelin Star kitchen, with no outside catering, and the resort's sommeliers pair wines from its cellar. The spa and an outdoor pool complete the weekend.

French restaurateur Claude Rouas and partner Bob Harmon opened Napa Valley's first fine-dining restaurant here in 1981, aiming to bring something of Provence to wine country. The inn followed five years later and has grown into a 50-guestroom resort among heritage olive and oak trees.

The Ceremony Terrace looks across the valley floor to the Mayacamas Mountains. Receptions use the Bellevue Ballroom, with bronze-framed doors opening to the view, while Maison d'Arbre, La Rotonde and Le Salon suit smaller dinners.

Wedding menus come from the kitchen of The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil, which holds eighteen consecutive years of Michelin Star recognition. The cooking is Mediterranean in spirit and seasonal, paired by the resort's own sommeliers.
